Great Hall

By Keith McDonald

This ornate room was a popular setting for encounters with characters in the second level.

The grand hall was a favourite haunt of Hordriss the Confuser after he became a mage in Series 5. He is found reading here and attempting to help Elita the Cavern Elf.

Magic was a common theme within this room. Teams find Motley trapped in a playing card and a firestone trapped inside a block of ice.

Teams also encountered Brother Mace, Sylvester Hands and Gwendoline the Greenwarden. Hands disguises himself as a dungeoneer to escape the Greenwarden but falls short in an intelligence test.

The Hall also appeared occasionally in Series 7. One team summons Grimaldine, the Celtic wizard, to tell him more about Lord Fear's new Tower.

This room is based on the south view of the Banqueting Hall in Hedingham Castle, Essex. It is made distinctive by the stag's head above the fireplace.
