I was actually searching for any information on the "Castle of Adventure" series that was on ITV in about 1989 - and I came across this site.. I'm very glad I did, this is fantastic and a worthy tribute to such a great show. Reading through the other entries I was delighted to realise that there are many of us at University who were brought up on great shows like this, it was fantastic and I remember trying to play it with my friends where we would leave poison traps (cushions) and swaps (carpet tiles) around a room and then blindfold someone. It was truly terrifying too, I remember always having
to leave the room, particularly when the spider came on. The whole idea that we
can see the terrible things happening to them but they can't really is quite
chilling when you think back to it, but it was a tremendous show and I'll be
sending a link to this site to my friends who also remember it too... we were
discussing it just the other day and saying how whenever there was a table with
items laid out, you always had to go for the useless one... there might be a
sword, a machine gun, a tank or whatever, but they'd reach a door and Treguard
would go "ahhhh, if only you'd taken the chalk......" submitted by Tom Bell, Trinity Hall, Cambridge on Mon, 29 Nov 99 I just had to have my rant on the updated Guestbook. BRING BACK KNIGHTMARE. DO IT NOW. BRING BACK KNIGHTMARE! I hope if anyone with any control over CITV reads this, they'll be instantly hypnotised into doing it! This show meant a lot to me when I was younger, right until the very end. I never saw much of the first series though (I was about six at the time, and my ability to pay attention/remember broadcast dates was a little underdeveloped). Keep it up man. I sincerely hope they bring the show back one day... submitted by Edward, wherever on Sun, 19 Dec 99 Wow... this is amazing to see. I was the spellcaster in the first team that ever won Knightmare (Mark, our Dungeoneer, who's still a good mate of mine, pointed this site out to me.)And there was me thinking everyone had forgotten... I agree with the other comments- it was a great series (even more fun to play than to watch!) and should be reinstated forthwith. Congratulations on the site- it must have taken a lot of effort, and it's very good! New or Repeats? submitted by Ian Symes, Birmingham, UK on Wed, 5 Jan 00, go to Ian Symes's homepage BRING BACK KNIGHTMARE!!!!!!! that is all i have to say (i am STILL in shock) submitted by Rob. on Sat, 8 Jan 00 I miss Knightmare it had an atmosphere which I think if they ever did bring it back would be missing because It would have to be something the kids of today wanted to see. However I wouldn't say no to a repeat run, could laugh at Pickle all over again then.Great web site keep up the good work! submitted by George on Sun, 9 Jan 00 Dear people who have created this marvellous site. i would just like to say that Knightmare was probably one of the best childrens programmes of all time, that along with Button moon and the Wuzzles. I want to just voice my opinion that i think this show should be put back on the TV to educate young children of today. If you think, they have been deprived of good childrens TV, look what they have had to grow up with, Teletubbies, Wizadora and Tots TV, not to mention that crap they put on, Johnny Bravo, Cat Dog, i am baboon, and Cow and chicken. what are these children going to grow up thinking, that their dog is going to sprout a cat from its arse and that their 'moma is HOT!!' Please, please, please, if there is anything that you can do to get Knightmare a new series, then please try it, i beg you, i am now 18 years of age and i think that it is a national treasure. Thankyou for taking the time to read my guestbook signing, Yours Sincerely submitted by Sheena. Aylesbury on Wed, 12 Jan 00 I was Nicholas's best friend during Primary School days, and to think of him making the best Web-Page is amazing! submitted by London on Fri, 14 Jan 00, go to London's homepage knightmare was the best show on kids telly.now all kids get is crap like kipper the dog or mopatop shop! if they cant make a new series, why cant they rerun the old shows just to show kids what afternoon tv was really like and that we didnt have to be brainwashed with tellytubbies and such like. the classics are the best, knightmare was a classic. love and moshing submitted by me in lincoln on Wed, 19 Jan 00 I watched Knightmare from when it very first started and I have never seen a better kids show before or since. If any one from Anglia is reading this GIVE US A NEW "KNIGHTMARE" FOR A NEW MILLENIUM!! submitted by John Boland, Banbury on Wed, 19 Jan 00 Was this or was it not the best kids programme way better than that crap they try to palm of on the unsuspecting victoms nowadays.

I am now 18 and at university where I have found this top notch site. It has brought back many memories of happy childhood viewing. I must agree that kids TV is rubbish today and that an updated Knightnmare should be made. submitted by Jonathan Bradshaw, University of Warwick on Thu, 27 Jan 00 O.K bring back KNIGHTMARE, i was wrong before, who cares what the kids of today think iwhat knightmare it was what helped me hold out all those stormy friday afternoon games lessons under the facist rule of sadistic games teachers, Bring back Knightmare, Pickle must prance again! A new task could be kill the sadistic games teacher (all these years and the hates as strong as ever-watch out games teachers the 'weedy kid' never forgets). Lucky to log in here actually. I was the first contestant for series 8... It was great, iw asn't supposed to be the Dungeoneer, but due to production decisions I ended up donning the helmet and crashing into portculis' and walls - It was great fun, and I've have loved to have gone back now that I'm an Actor to play it from the other side as one of the characters. Oh well, life goes on! submitted by R1X @ Bracknell, UK on Wed, 9 Feb 00, go to R1X @ Bracknell, UK's homepage I was reminded of Knightmare a few days ago and since then every so often I remember something else about it... I used to love all of the features, from the wonderful theme tune to the beautiful sets...the eerie sound effects and the scary puzzles. The Dwarf Corridors (?) have made me permantly claustrophobic! I came so close to being on it with my friends, but we were unsuccessful because one of us was under 12! I think the show should definitely come back. With the quality of computer graphics nowadays, just think how brilliant it would be! I loved the theme music too! I used to watch the show on the sci-fi channel on cable, but now it is not on anymore. Bring it back! We need to campaign for a comeback! Anyway, what a great website! submitted by Victoria, Newcastle on Thu, 17 Feb 00 I enjoyed Knightmare, hurray ,i was here! submitted by Jayne on Sun, 20 Feb 00 I need help! can anyone send me a rom of the Knightmare computer game (Amiga or Atari) - I used to own it but my ST and software was stolen - please help! submitted by Tom Worrall on Thu, 24 Feb 00, go to Tom Worrall's homepage i think the forbidden gate is tremendously excellent it is the best book i have read. i like the way the author describes the scene. Anyone wishing to participate in these fabulous, teacher consuming, A-level failing diversions should be at Hinchley Wood School, Surrey, on fridays, 1.35 pm. SPELLCASTING "D-I-S-E-C-T-I-O-N" Keep up the good work lads. (And Ladies) submitted by Jim Paul, Esher on Sat, 26 Feb 00 i luv knightmare me. It was
champion, definitely Premier League! We recently recreated our own episode of
Knightmare using our own version of a dragon, my mates Nova. I was the questor
and stuck my head through the sunroof with a cycle helmet on my head.
unforntuanly her majesty's constabularly were not too keen on this novel use of
a sunroof and my apparent disrespect for my safety on the Queen's highway. We
were cautioned and warned to stop arseing about otherwise we would face a night
in a cell. when i tried to explain that we were recreating knightmare, they
appeared bemused and despite my friends attempts to warn them of the goblins
that lurked underneath bridges, they were not impressed. alas i FAILED IN MY
QUEST FOR THE SWORD OF TRUTH AND was lucky to return to my bed that night to
dream of more exciting quests directed by my team under the close supervision of
treguard. submitted by Mr T on Wed, 1 Mar 00 HI, this is a grwt site, many thanks to one Paul Duffy for recommending this fascinating archive of everything Knightmare. submitted by Patrick Hamilton, Manchester on Wed, 1 Mar 00 Knightmare will always live in my heart for eternity. My friend Marcy was rather disturbed by it, but he too loves it to bits. submitted by Young Nicky from the Old Bedians Society Who Love Knightmare and Jamie and The Magic Torch on Thu, 2 Mar 00 When I visited this site I gave up christianity because, to be sure, i had found a new God. submitted by Rob Meagher Leeds on Thu, 2 Mar 00 Knightmare, what can I say? Not so sure about mare- with a not so subtle Britney-esque nod towards female inferiority and submissiveness. Also makes me think of Daniel Woods, as with many things associating women and animals. Knightmare, may it never be forgotten. submitted by laura chappell, upper bowdon on Sun, 5 Mar 00 hello there, urm i used to watch this with me bro very good yeah!!! submitted by emma (walderslade, england) on Mon, 6 Mar 00 This is truly fabulous, dreams

It was the coolest thing on TV for the years it was on. 16-45 on a thursday (or was it friday) seeing this site brought back loads of childhood memories!! submitted by Michael Derry Wales on Tue, 14 Mar 00 My friend and I were just trying to find our own names on the internet (a bit of an ego-trip, but we're bored, humour us!). No luck for him, but i discover a twelve year old incarnation of myself in your online copy of The Quest reviewing the board game. David Learner is a family friend, which is how I got the lucky job of reviewing it all of 8 years ago. Thanks for putting my review online and making sure that no-one forgets Knightmare. submitted by Ossian Hawkes, Liverpool on Wed, 15 Mar 00 Memoirs of a knightmare lover: In the 90's I watched it with
eagerness and anticipation, my sofa a haven to my Robert Brown submitted by Robert Brown on Wed, 15 Mar 00 this is the funniest thing
ever! submitted by Laura, London on Wed, 15 Mar 00 Knightmare was, without doubt, the best Childrens T.V. programme of its time, and compared to today's programmes it is highy superior. Well done Tim Child! submitted by Joseph Clift, Loughborough on Wed, 15 Mar 00 I agree with Joe. Bring it back NOW. submitted by Bob, Loughborough on Thu, 16 Mar 00 Knightmare was bloody amazing. I watch it now on my videos that I used to record when I was younger. It sends shivers down my spine. Its bloody amazing. The best part was The CatacombBite. I remember the day as it got a team, and all things went quiet, apart from the pumping of a heart, and a digitally rendered eyeball flew toward the screen against a streaming bloodlike red background. I watched every episode and cried if I missed one. I am now 18 and I don't think it's sad at all. If the show could be brought back that would be mint. I saw Treguard, Hugo Myatt, on an educational program on BBC2 about Romans which made pots. He rides vintage motorbikes now, i seem him round Chesterfield, where I live, a lot. Haven't spoken to him before though, his beard intimidates me. submitted by Mark Taylor - Chesterfield on Fri, 17 Mar 00, go to Mark Taylor's homepage This is a very good site with
lots of excelent information on it. We at Sandbach School remember Knightmare
and also wist to have it back on our screens, and even if this does not happen we
can always create out own new series. Watching our own creations over and over
again. submitted by Steven Pressland, Cheshire on Sun, 19 Mar 00, go to Steven Pressland homepage WOOOOOW!! A Knightmare website!
What a bloody program. Great website too, plz, Long live knightmare... submitted by Jake, Exeter on Mon, 20 Mar 00, go to Jake, Exeter's homepage Well what can I say knightmare was wicked and I wan't to watch it again. All I really want to say is that the webmaster of this website should put vidoes on this site which are better quality then the ones at the moment. If anyone wants to sell any knighmare vidoes E-mail me please. submitted by Ads on Tue, 21 Mar 00 I was really upset when they stopped showing Knightmare. I loved it, and I always wanted to be the kid in the helmet. Listening to the theme tune really brings back memories. I wish I was still little - but who doesn't? submitted by Sarah, London (UK) on Fri, 24 Mar 00 Well....I'm shocked! Knightmare was definitely the best TV show around at the time - kids nowadays don't know what they've missed! Oh, to be a kid again......... submitted by Caroline, Burnley, Lancashire on Sat, 25 Mar 00 This brings back memorys... I'm 15 now and used to watch Knightmare quite often, although it is kinda vague because I was so young. As far as I can tell I only have one episode remaining on tape from the various ones I recorded but the ending is cut off of it, Pitty It was one of my favourite shows. I remember one episode, it was something about a giant being sent via tunnel to the main chaber, a descision on whether to save knightmare or complete the quest and eventually the eye sheild getting mixed up with the one they were aiming to get? or something like that. submitted by Wayne, Birmingham on Sat, 25 Mar 00 Knightmare meant a lot to me, since it started in 1987, and I had also begun to collect the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks. Both products of the same genre went hand in hand. To see a computer generated interactive roleplay on my TV screen was beyond belief. I never missed a show if I could help it. I absolutely adored the key characters, especially the eccentric, enjoyable Tregard, and the impatient Brother Mace, who challenged the Dungeoneer's path with three riddles. It was a black day indeed when Knightmare was taken off-air. Yet, hopefully, this is only a slight reprieve. Come on, Tim! Let's open up those dusty catacombs, use your Broadsword in a quest to thwart a resurgence of menace and evil. By now, computer graphics must be more than capable to support Knightmare - The Return. Improved VR is the vital key to unlocking those catacombs once more. If they still show gameshows like 'The Crystal Maze', 'Fort Boyard', etc, then Knightmare surely has a chance to begin again. As for the adult viewing, I'd like to say my sister-in-law, then in her thirties, enjoyed Knightmare immensely. Great concept, superb effort by actors and crew, well-designed and colourful, with a natural sense of humour. Even the theme music is included in my appraisal! Knightmare is an ancient culture thought forgotten by most, yet continues to stir. In the darkness, it awaits its moment... Oh, and I loved it when a certain team actually beat the challenge for the first time. Tregard was jumping for joy. Brilliant stuff! Bring it back Anglia! submitted by Robert Douglas, Northamptonshire, England. on Wed, 29 Mar 00 I got so far as the auditions at Manchester BBC which was quite an adventure in itself. This site brought back some fond memories. submitted by Troy Cartwright, Co. Durham, UK on Thu, 30 Mar 00 I'm 15 now and wish knightmare could be brought back as i would still watch it. The greatest childrens programme ever. My favourite room was where the playing cards came out of the wall and you had to navigate across them. submitted by timothy jones on Thu, 30 Mar 00 Brilliant site - i've even signed up for the BBK Campaign. Really detailed, and fun too - great sounds+videos submitted by Paulio on Fri, 31 Mar 00 Hello, E-mail me if you'd like to. submitted by Mark Wickson on Fri, 31 Mar 00 oh my god, this is the best

mean series 7! my brain is fried, too much of this excellent website... i'm not
ignorant, honest, just tired and for some reason i have the number 7 stuck in my
mind.... submitted by tracey, swansea (as before) on Sun, 2 Apr 00 EXCELLENT!!!! WHHAT CAN I SAY OTHER THAN THANK YOU FOR HAVING ALL THIS STUFF FOR US TO SEE. submitted by Jonathan Mantle on Thu, 6 Apr 00 It's a shame that Knightmare had passed on and this site does the great show justice. Perhaps the younger generation could make a similar show as a one off? submitted by Luke Pierce, Sussex on Tue, 11 Apr 00 Hi Everyone I too wish that it will be back
after all latest technology can improve the graphics as long as it doesn't make
it into some crap sci-fi thing. My
fave part of the quest was the part where you gave the dragon a gift and it
would give you a ride. Anyway , everybody tell people to sign the petition to
return Knightmare submitted by Shaheen Mufti in London , Brent on Fri, 14 Apr 00 |
