Only had time to do a a small site update this time, but nevertheless this is the last update this year as the site approaches 4 years old! In
November, Tom Murphy,
who sent all the petition entries collected on this site between
Autumn 1999 and Spring 2001, has received replies from ITV and Anglia, but no
reply yet from the BBC. Since then he has also continued the petition on his own
website, and gave the campaign some publicity on the radio and on newsgroups.
I am pleased to announce that Alan Boyd has created a new website for the new Bring Back Knightmare campaign at bringbackknightmare.co.uk. This site replaces the TES Bring Back Knightmare site and Tom Murphy's 'The Greatest Quest' site with immediate effect. This is a new petition, so please go along and sign it unless you have already signed Tom's petition since November (all entries collected have been passed on to the new site).

For those of you who are unaware, this is a text-based role-playing game played live in the chat room, where Adam plays Treguard (the host) and up to two other chat room visitors are the players. It previously ran in October-November last year (click here to see the logs) and will be back soon.
Adam is looking for a helper (like someone to play a role similar to Pickle or Majida) in the RPG, who will be given advance information on the scripts so they know what to say. Children's ITV 1987/1988
New information and two new clips added from Neil Jones. These are quite interesting since they are taken from just before the first ever episode of Knightmare in September 1987. These can also be downloaded from the CLIPS page.
New site stats to interest you:
- 1517 / 14MB Picture files
- 422 / 8MB HTML Pages
- 177 / 38MB of Audio/Video Clips
Also - the pages dedicated to the last ever episode of Knightmare (which were originally added back in October to mark 5 years since the event) have been removed. They will be integrated into the new series 8 section which will be available sometime in the near future.
5th June 2000
29th May 2000
There will be major updates coming in June, not only the new series 7 and 8 guides, but first - a major overhaul of the clips and all the series guides, making corrections to mistakes here and there (yes, there are some!).
As from Monday 29th May, ALL series sound and video clips will be deleted off the server while I re-organise them. I will be gradually restoring new higher quality clips in series order, however I cannot guarantee to restore every clip.
I plan to have fewer clips, but higher quality ones due to space restrictions. So if you have been meaning to download particular clips but have not yet got around it for whatever reason, I would advise you to download them now as they may not be available after 29th May.

Apologies for the lack of updates recently. I'm afraid there will be no major updates until I have more spare time. I hope to be re-organising the clips section with new and improved video one day!. In the meantime, if you haven't done already, join the announcement list (above) and I'll let you know when it happens.

Chat Knews: The text based Knightmare chat RPG game was quite a success, but the greater game needs to become greater! At the end of season 1, we saw 1 team win, and 4 teams lose. A new game is forming though. Will you be there to see it? The Knightmare game will be hosted on Adam's website. A date for this will be arranged soon, but there will be no chat RPG this Saturday to give us a well-deserved break!
15 November 1999
Last Saturday's Chat RPG News: Well, <Jon> and <Nicholas> sort of died in level 1. After picking up a red stone, they got seriously stuck on the riddles and gave up. The next dungeoneer was <Fear> (aka Tim Child) who also died in level 1 after stepping on the wrong colour on the causeway puzzle. For the full details, see the transcript.

October 1999 Updates
25 October 1999
Thanks to everyone who turned up to watch Saturday's chat game session. Dungeoneer Anton continued his quest in level 2 from the week before, but died shortly after later in the level for not answering enough riddles correct. The next dungeoneer was 'Forester', who reached level 2 but also died there for the same reasons. The session ended at 8.30pm (which happened to be the same time 'Forester' died).
If you missed the last two sessions, you can read a

Thanks to Philip Alderman for typing up and sending me two magazine reviews of the Knightmare computer games. Both are for the Atari ST. Just a quck summary: There were 2 computer games. The first was in 1988 for the Spectrum and Atari. The second was in 1992 for the Spectrum and Atari. Of course, as I had a PC neither were any use to me!

The producer of Knightmare is thinking about holding a Knightmare Millennium Party and RPG weekend in a dungeon sometime next year, and would like to know your thoughts on this. Please do this on the thread in the Discussion Forum.
And finally, a reminder of Anton Benson's Knightmare Magazine (KM). He would really like any contributions/ideas/letters/suggestions for his forthcoming new internet issue. Please help out in any way you can by completing the form in the KM section.

Your responses to my question about the chat room indicates the majority of you would prefer to chat on Sunday evenings. The first 'Knightmare Chat' will therefore be on Sunday 10th October from 8pm. If all goes well, I will advertise another day and time in the next update on Monday 11th. See you there!
More details soon on how to take part in a live interactive adventure game (in the chat room), which is being written by Adam Battersby.
Answers to the rest of my questions:
There was another Knightmare Teletext game in the late 80s (before the 'Bamboozle' one). ITV Oracle (as it was known then) used the entire adventure game section from the first Knightmare book - 'Can you beat the challenge?' on their pages. They didn't make full use of the Teletext functions (probably no use of the 'reveal' button), so you had to go to another page to see if your answers were correct, and even then they had the answers to all the other riddles on that same page! Thanks to Nick Gates for this info.
