Knightmare on
The Sci-Fi Channel
1995-1998
The Sci-Fi Channel started on the 1st November 1995. They bought the rights to Knightmare for three years and Knightmare was part of the schedule from the very start. During 1995-1996 it went out at 10.30am on Saturdays, and 4pm on weekdays. By mid-1996, it was shown at 9.20am weekdays, and 11.30am weekends.
By the October 1996 it was being shown at 10:00am Sundays only. This continued until the 22nd December. From the 4th January 1997, it was shown at 7.30am Saturdays and Sundays, and 10:05am Sundays. Before then the listings started at 8am, so presumably it coincided with the channel's broadcast hours being extended. The times were still the same by October 1997.
From January 1998, Knightmare was repeated again from Series 1, but only to UK Cable viewers (as Sky did not broadcast Sci-Fi until 8am) - at 7.30am on Saturday and Sunday mornings only. It was shown until the end of October 1998 (mid-way through Series 4), when the Sci-Fi Channel's rights to broadcast Knightmare expired.
Nicely scheduled to co-inside with children returning home from school, but no use to the majority who could not receive the channel!
Sci-Fi also added a break in the middle of Knightmare episodes to show their own trailers (common practice with all their broadcasts).
This caption was used in and out of breaks, with the voice-overs "Knightmare continues after the break" and "You're watching Knightmare."
