CITV - 1993
In late 1992, a single Controller of Children's Programmes was appointed at ITV, replacing the old committee system responsible for scheduling. This was Dawn Airey from Central TV. She decided to abandon presenters and replace the CITV presentation with trailers and voiceovers, incorporating characters and animation from CITV programmes as demonstrated here using the opening titles for Knightmare:
The presentation always referred to the service as CITV, although 'Children's' was still
present in the logo.
The voiceover man was Steven Ryde, hired from the Central TV Junior Television Workshop.
Clip available in 'CITV Clips' of a CITV trailer and
introduction to Knightmare.
As since 1991, there was an increasing emphasis on trailing programmes:
This year's address card after some episodes of Knightmare, inviting viewers to write in for
more information or to appear on the show!
At the end of series 7, episode 13 there was again a card mentioning the latest Knightmare
book - 'The Dragon's Lair'. Hmm, note the similarities!
