My thoughts exactly. I thought it was a bit of a mean trick really; not that I think it should have been left out, but it's a little rough that only Helen's team wound up in that kind of situation.

TRANSFORMATION:
Has anyone mentioned alchemy?
I'll bet there was a guard who needed to be bribed somewhere further along the quest, and the next room after Mogdred contained a bar of lead.

I often wonder what the "Power to Rule" potion would've done (I think it was from Se7?)
I hadn't realised I'd entered the lunatic asylum! No doubt one day you'll be cured, you poor creature

Transformation - Maybe it was intended to turn a worthless artefact into the quest object?
But - ...Maybe it was as in the Scottish use of the term for a front or outer room, or a kitchen especially in a cottage?
Shovel (Or was it Spade?) - *clonk*, like Anvil.
Medal - Make her move faster, like a medal winning Olympian, maybe?

Re:What would these (Unused) Spells have done?
I have always lived in Scotland and never heard the word "but" used to mean room or kitchen in my whole life!Gizensha wrote: But - ...Maybe it was as in the Scottish use of the term for a front or outer room, or a kitchen especially in a cottage?
The only connection I can think of is "But'n'ben" which is a long unused word for a small 2-roomed holiday cottage (and I only know this from a history lesson!), where "but" did indeed refer to the kitchen and "ben" referred to the living room.
But as far as I know it's only ever been used as a phrase: But'n'Ben. The word "but" on it's own is not used to mean room or kitchen or anything other than the usual meaning of "but" in modern English
And even if it was, that's kind of ambiguous for a spell - even for Knightmare!!
I suspect "but" quite simply would have made Mogdred change his mind. He was all set to kill, "But... maybe I'll let you live a little longer."

Following the Scottish connection, maybe when the BUT spell was cast, a drunk Glaswegian would have materialised and honoured Mogdred with a Glasgow 'kiss'.

Well it's possible, but take it from someone who used to live in Glasgow, it's a lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ong walk from the Highlands...
