Actually, put that way you're probably right. I overlooked him because there are times when he sounds quite deep and mysterious, but you're right - the humble man of God with amiable vices is quite an overused character device.

Re: Knightmare Stereotypes
I don't mind Mace's character, since usually there was a little story going on around him. And if he's a stereotype, at least he's a pretty interesting one. Unlike some, Olaf. Ho ho ho, he's a Viking with a bad Scandinavian accent. Gosh, what a great creation.

I always thought that Olaf was funny.

Stereotypes are frequently funny, they're just not good writing.

I wasn't arguing that he wasn't a sterotype I just didn't think he was too badly writen.
At lest not any worse then some of the characters in the early series.

The way that Skarkill said 'lovely' reminds me of a character on the comedy show The Mary Whitehouse Experience (which despite the title was nothing to do with MW, who was so kind to Knightmare in its early days) whose catchphrase was 'Lovely! Milky milky!'

Re: Knightmare Stereotypes
As coincidence would have it, a couple of weeks ago I found websites that have episodes of TMWE (the original, much better, radio version) available for download.
You can visit http://www.tmwe.co.uk/ for all of them, although the site's accessibility comes and goes quite erratically.
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~crosers/tmwe.htm is a good secondary source for episodes from the final season on radio.
Sorry, no milky-milky man in the radio version.

Re: Knightmare Stereotypes
Thanks, HStorm. I knew you'd know about TMWE!
Skarkill, 'Milky Milky Man' was a very entertaining comic character, and my comparison was meant as a compliment to both."CHARMING DRASSIL. VERY CHARMING."
