I liked the season 7 ending with the troll, just a matter of personal opinion.
We share the same tatstes it would seem Lord_Bob. The S7 Seson End is also my Personal Favirot.

I think the series 4 ending was naff too. Giles' team was great, and they almost won. Right, so they didn't win - not quite. But the Christmas thing is just all wrong. There's no real point to it. WHY?

My favourite was series 7. A brilliant ending tied in with the end of the last team - can't beat it. I also liked the frantic urgency at the end of series 6.

But there should've at least been an explanation as to where Merlin and Mogdred had gone - not just the sudden appearance of Lord Fear!

Yeah, the Merlin/Mogdred thing is a botched retcon. I wrote my own version of what happened between S4 and S5, to try and explain away/rationalise as many of the discontinuities as I could, particularly where Mogdred went and where Lord Fear came from. But I'd much rather the makers sorted these things out for themselves!

Brother Mace's comment during Series 5 - 'Merlin may no longer be with us, but his magic lives on' - leading to a dungeoneer finding 'Merlin's chest' with a PIXEL spell scroll inside, did little to elucidate things.

Click on my ID and follow the link to my webpage. You'll find it in the fanfics section.

WARNING: It's the trilogy called The Chrysalis, and it's as long as a Dave Morris novella, so you'll have to set some time aside for it.

Possibly the Christmas ending to Series 4 was intended to act as a kind of dramatic foil to the introduction of Lord Fear at the start of Series 5, e.g. Merlin saying "There's nothing to fear".
