Did series 1-8 exhaust the possibilities for *gameplay* in the format?

Just wondering whether there are enough new ideas to make Knightmare work. Hugo Myatt said in 1994 he thought it could run for at least another couple of series. But most of the suggestions I've come across seem to revolve around 'improved graphics' or a debate about VR.

What about the actual gameplay, if we assume the quintessential helmet remains? Should the reach wand become a drone controlled by a team member, for example (or perhaps that was for the Satellite Game?!).

More centrally, somewhere I read that Tim Child said during Series 8 that (four series on) the Corridor of Blades was the best test they had for a co-ordination challenge. Is that still the case today?
