Audio Plays - Should we do more?

Post by HStorm »

Plans are in place to make a second KMRAmDram audio play. (http://www.knightmare.com/forum/http:// ... eadid=2166.)
The first draft of a new script has been completed, and we would just like to take soundings to see if people want us to go ahead and produce it.

There are uncertainties about which cast and crew members will be available. Therefore, if anyone new would be interested in joining in with recording, please let us know, either here or via the website. Recording still won't happen for some months, but we need to know what interest there is as early as possible.

Parts available are for Mogdred/Merlin, Pickle, Mistress Goody, Hordriss, and possibly Malice.

(NOTE: If you answer 'Yes to both', please let us know who you are and which character you would like to play, so we can get in touch with you!)

Yes, loved the first play, and I wouldn't mind helping out with it.
There should be a sequel!

(Can I just ask again that if you choose 'Yes to both' you please IM me, or send an email to the KMRAmDram email address, so that we know who you are? The polls system on this forum is secret ballot, so we've no way of knowing who is volunteering if they don't get in touch directly.)

We've set up a new dedicated forum for the Audio Plays. Its primary purpose is to provide a communication point for people working on KM-RAmDram projects, and so part of the forum can only be accessed by those people who have been authorised.

However, there are other boards available where absolutely anyone can come along and discuss the 'finished product'. Please feel free to join. You can find the new forum at; -

IMPORTANT NOTE: The new forum is meant expressly for KMAP discussion. If it's more General Knightmare chat you're interested in, please continue posting on here instead.

A major part in the main new audio play to be recorded in April has just become available due to a withdrawal. The part is a male character, and is one of the most prominent roles in the story.

If you would like to volunteer to play the part, please go to the AP forum at the address in the above post, and send an IM to Martin. Please note that you must be able to commit to joining us in Loughborough, where the play is being recorded, from April 21st to at least April 23rd, and preferably to April 25th.

There may also be a female role set to become available as well. Watch this space for further details about that.

Thanks, nice to know someone enjoyed it.

We really do still need an extra actor, and the need has become more urgent. If anyone can help, please go to the AP forum and volunteer.

Recording of the second audio play has been put on indefinite hold due to various financial and personnel difficulties. It is highly unlikely that it will be recorded for the remainder of this year.

As an update on the postponed plays, we presently have three scripts awaiting production, with a possible fourth one in early drafting stage, but due to enormous difficulties finding a suitable time for everyone to meet up, we're considering a change of approach.

The main script remains on the back-burner until a studio meet-up can be arranged, but the other two scripts are essentially comedies, a little like the KM-Today project from last Christmas. Therefore we're thinking of making them at home in the same way. Essentially, anyone who has their own microphone and would like to take part can record lines and then forward them to us, and we can paste them together. The Wall Aid crew will be familiar with this approach.

The first script we are trying to put together this way is a sketch by Dark_Comet. If this works okay, we'll try to produce the second script, a full-length comedy play, in the same manner.

If you have your own microphone/recording equipment and you're interested in taking part, please IM me.

Here is the current state-of-play with audio projects;-

Of the three scripts mentioned above, two have now been mixed and released - Bolt To The Head and Yes, Dungeon Master - which leaves the third script, When Five Tribes Go To War, on standby. We are having too much difficulty arranging a suitable time for a large enough cast to meet up and record it, so we are now discussing whether to record this one from home as well. It is a proper drama rather than a comedy, and is set in the same continuity as Famous For Retreating.

Would anyone be interested in helping to make it? There are fourteen characters appearing in it, and only three of them have definitely been assigned so far.

Another sketch has been written, called Blue Balls, which we hope to have available for this year's Christmas offering. There are also several other projects in very early development, but work on them will not proceed until 5Tribes and Blue Balls are both complete. For the record, these projects go under the working titles; -

Sidriss Jones' Diary;
Choice Techonomics or Techtopia (haven't really made up our minds about what to call that one yet) and;
The Trial Of A Technomancer.

There are changes happening over the Easter weekend in the land of sightless KM-storytelling. No new material, but we're having something of a reboot away from the mic.

First off, we're finally ditching our clumsy original group name. "KM-RAmDram" was always hard to pronounce and even harder to spell, so after a long while mulling it over, we've plumped for the new moniker, The Dunshelm Players. Cop-out name? Maybe, but we just couldn't come up with a better one, and at least we're sure it's better than the original.

Secondly, Andy Marshall (Dark_Comet) has been hard-at-work tinkering away at a new, less eye-twisting website to replace the 90's-looking eyesore that we've been making do with for the last three-and-a-half years. The new site's still in-progress for now, so for the time being http://www.kmramdram.co.uk/ remains the place to download from, but that will become defunct very soon. To go with this, we also have a new e-mail address to replace the one in the posts above; thedunshelmplayers@tiscali.co.uk , the AP forum has been shut down due to lack of activity, and all our files, including all the commentary tracks, are being moved to a new server; another big nod of thanks to Forester for generously hosting them for us over the last few years.

Watch this space for further news as it happens.
