Dishing the dirt

I was on Knightmare (team 9, 1990 apparently). It was alot of fun. lots of things happened that you never get to hear about.

Want to know why they never showed us walking away like they did with everyone else?

Want to know how I nearly lost my arm?

With the filming and the hotel antics (we got through five rooms) it was an amazing experience!!!

Robin and I are still close friends too, which is cool. Haven't seen Andrew in years

Erm...think you may have your teams wrong, there were only 8 teams in 1990. You were in team 8, not 9.

And welcome to the forum, hope you have a nice time here! Dish by all means! It's not every day this happens! ;)

Welcome, and thanks for dropping by. :) 15 years on, and your quest is still much talked about! (Three threads of Episode Discussion: your 1st episode, your 2nd, your 3rd). I personally enjoyed watching it a lot, and was disappointed that you were allowed to get so far but not to win. And like many Knightmare fans, I wasn't too impressed with the Christmas send-off your team got given instead...

We're hoping to hear the results soon of an interview with Robin, and it would be fascinating to hear any inside information you wish to share as well.

Are you still friends with Bret?

How old are you now?

Thanx Becxmagic, was going on the info Rob gave.

Ross, Brett is my older brother. He was pretty obsessed with Knightmare and we applied every year after the first season. We got the the final selection for Season 3 but didn't make it to the finals so Brett changed the team and got Robin and Andrew on board.

the reason we made the block and tackle was that Brett spent alot of time "training" me on taking directions before we went on.

Everyone had clear roles. Brett gave directions, Robin gave descriptions and Andrew cast the spells. that was I only had to listen to one person at a time.

The Pickle joke was a set up. We came from a Village called Tiptoe and they thought that wasn't Knightmare enough. When they found out it was on the edge of the New Forest they put that stupid joke in.

Your quest is one of my all-time favourites :) Brett's enthusiasm for the quest always makes me smile whenever I watch it :) By rights, you should've won - surely Christmas could've been delayed for a few more minutes?

Still funny though. Or at least I think so.

Talking of funny jokes Motley did a good one on your quest.

"What did the assassin say to the victim?"

"Knife to see you!".

You must be 29 now I think (scary that you were on TV 15 years now.)

So have you recently watched the quest on Challenge TV? Oh, and yes I really enjoyed watching your quest. I think we all did.

It would be great to get you and Rob in Knightmare Chat! Or at least you. Imagine the fun... What do you think? ;)
Thanks for the info, a real treat to read! Hope there's more where that came from and hope that you're enjoying the forum. Your quest is probably my favourite of the series if not the whole show!

"By rights, you should've won - surely Christmas could've been delayed for a few more minutes?"

We hated that, it was really childish and made us feel really uncomfortable. It was filmed in mid august too.

"Talking of funny jokes Motley did a good one on your quest."

He was really nice. we spent a long time refilming the scene with the spider (forgot her name) and he was making me laugh the whole time.

"You must be 29 now I think (scary that you were on TV 15 years now.)"

28 now, I was only just thireen, we started filming the day after my birthday. there was a bit of confusion though and they bought out a birthday cake for my brother instead. we were too embarrased to say anything. can't imagine how that happened!

"So have you recently watched the quest on Challenge TV?"

I didn't know it was on until Robin told me. It's amazing that people are still watching and enjoying the show. It was really nice to see that we'd been nominated in the top 5 teams too.

"Oh, and yes I really enjoyed watching your quest. I think we all did. "

Thank you. It's nice to know we were apart of something that people enjoy.

"It would be great to get you and Rob in Knightmare Chat!"

What's that?

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. Your quest is a favourite of mine, too, and I definitely agree that you'd have gone the distance given just five more minutes. Maybe a few Eye Shield trims in earlier quests would have done the trick. :)

I can't help noticing that your surname is an anagram of Merlin. Maybe it was all fated! ;)

I watched your quest again recently. It looked like everyone was having a good time, which is great to see. It also looked as if some interesting stuff might have been edited out along the way (including perhaps part of the transporter pad room?). In any case, if you have any more dirt you wish to dish, we're all ears!

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, but Knightmare Chat is at http://ikm.ezri.mine.nu
It's the Knightmare chatroom, where some members from the Knightmare community (mostly forum members) meet and chat.
I just thought it would be an idea to get you into chat, so we can ask you more questions, and because it would be fun to have more people! :)

And like Drassil said, if you have more to say, we're all ears!

:o

I hadn't noticed that about my surname. Didn't they used to do an anagram thing on Knightmare with names? Or am I thinking of Harry Potter?

Did you know every team gets a second chance?

I think that in the Level 3 clue room in series 1-3 (the one with staircase either side and two doors in between) one of the doors had 'NILREM' above it, which, as Drassil pointed out once, is an anagram of MERLIN.

Every team got a second chance? That reflects poorly on the couple of duffers who copped it halfway through Level 1. :)

"Every team got a second chance? That reflects poorly on the couple of duffers who copped it halfway through Level 1."

They were doing that by series 3. I assume they weren't doing it in the first series and decided to make it more interesting later on they let people get further. Effectively it must have become easier. I think some slow or boring teams got killed off intentionally. They would have been after interesting shows and interesting teams. It was in their best interest to keep teams that were entertaining on longer.

That's one of the reasons Brett was so enthusiastic and animated.
