Looking back, the gap between 1994 and 2004 seems hilariously short and if someone announced the triumphant return of, I dunno, Dick and Dom in da Bungalow now, it wouldn't feel like it had been gone long enough to warrant a comeback. But given I was six in 1994 and fifteen when KMVR premiered, it felt like a huge moment, something I had essentially been waiting my whole life for. With Challenge repeating all eight series regularly, and Treguard's brief if fun appearance in the aforementioned Bungalow, it genuinely felt like things were building to something major. For it to fizzle out so soon and things to enter the comparative wilderness of late noughties KM fandom (when the future events of 2013-14 felt so unlikely I'd have dismissed them at the time as absolutely impossible) was a huge shame.
Looking back 2004 wasn't the best of times to attempt it, too late for the show to still be seen as remotely current yet too early for any adulthood nostalgia to have properly developed - a bit like your favourite 1980s pop group trying to get a hit circa 1996, a post-relevant/pre-nostalgic impossibility. And even with advances in computer technology in the ten years since Series 8, it still wasn't enough to work as a completely CGI format - today it looks only slightly above a Playstation 2 game, with better graphics able to be achieved with off the shelf software you can buy anywhere a decade on.
Many instantly dismissed KMVR as point-missing nonsense, a textbook example of how not to revive a show. But I see it as the equivalent of the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie - it perhaps wouldn't have worked in the long run, but damn was it good to see it briefly back.

Well done on persevering with this. I thought it was decidedly poor on Wikipedia's part to censor this. Again, all I would suggest for this is that the KMVR cast get credited (as the original Knightmare cast is one of the main features of the page). Just copy and paste from the bottom of Something New for your nicely crafted section. Skål!

I'm afraid I wasn't overly impressed.
The team dynamic is gone, now that the dungeoneer can see I wondered what the point of the adviser was. Just another pair of eyes?
Not only that, but KM has gone from cutting edge to retro. Aiming for the complete computer generated effect is a big mistake. Nothing dates faster than computer graphics. KM had backdrops far in advance of anything on your computer screen, but these days it wasn't going to be possible, not on a TV show budget under TV show time constraints. Slap a new costume on an actor... new character! For a computer you need to create, model, skin and animate them. It also left me wondering why I would want to play when it looked like little more than a basic adventure game I could trump with something from my games collection.
The blind navigation, contrary to what some have said, was central to knightmare. The dungeoneer was in control, but the advisers were better informed. The dynamic between the two is what made the game, and that it involved real people meant it could adapt on the fly in a way the new version cannot.
I'd love to see KM come back, updated for the modern world. I'd hoped to see changes which reflected the fact that the dungeoneer can see, but it simply looked like KM, with more graphics, less advisers, with the same old puzzles. You cannot remove one of the central elements and change nothing else to compensate... where was the tension in the jumping element? The axe swings were irregular, the jumps couldn't be misjudged, you simply needed to get the letters right...
I hoped for so much, but it was, I'm afraid to say, a disappointing experience. Sorry.

With a lottery grant required for the search engine and trying to rekindle a programme that held audiences of millions 10 years ago, it might appear to show lack of faith or ambition (which, regardless of the outcome, we know is there in abundance) if the new series was commissioned to a channel with a known limited audience. I think that most entertainment channels on Sky tend to be comprised of either repeats or time-trailing shows - but that's what they're wanted for, and good for, and there's no criticism implied because that works.
As for the terrestrial channel discussion: I think I really depends what category KM-VR will be attributed. For instance, if the idea was set for it to remain predominantly a children's show, then it is difficult to argue against grouping it into the standard chilldren's prime-time slots, on the likes of CBBC and CiTV - let's fact it - it certainly found its appeal for the original K.M. If it is to move up a notch, into that young adult/adolescent category that seems to have been the scapegoat excuse as to the original being axed, then I really don't know. I'm just glad that BVA knows the business and has plenty of knowledge about the industry & will hold faith that the best deal for this will be settled.

I think that the true question, though, is:
(4) What is Km?

the one we all currently know and love should stand for the bluescreen era of the Dungeon Dimension.
Let the new generation of fans enjoy a new tune for a new era.
I know i'd love to have a shot at questing (as would many others) in both old and new formats, but being 22, i think my luck would hold better with the TimeGate rather than the Dungeon Dimension.
I don't know if BVA is accepting names just in case, but if BVA does, i will quite happily send him my contact details as and when needed, for either TG or KMVR.
The Greater Game's evolved over the years, so let the theme music evolve. It worked on Red Dwarf from the ochestral to "Fun Fun Fun in the Sun Sun Sun." (Opening Credits Reference for anyone who remembers)
Besides, BVA's gotten loads of feedback from just posting a demo vid, i'm sure he'd let us demo the new theme music to go with it.
And there's nothing stopping old cameos (Maybe the eyeshield in the Antechamber? The Helm of Justice sat around in the distance? A picture frame with a difference Knightmare character in it each week?)
I'm still looking forward to seeing the Greater Game make it's return, even though a few comprimises have to made. After all, it's better than not at all, now, isn't it?

BVA, you said about the joysticks at waist height? What if the dungeoneers had something like VR games had, which is a small hand held remote - tilt it forward for forward, back for back, etc, plus there's 3 buttons or so on each controller (Jump, Spellcast, Sidestep etc)

Yeah. The CGI figures are kinda funny looking which I think is the only flaw. Maybe it won't really matter; perhaps they'll look great in action.

Yes, it's not easy to say if motion would cover those defects or make them more obvious. I suppose we can hope that movement and sound and a Quest to follow would make it appear better. In any case, these are only preliminary pictures, so I guess the final product would receive a lot more work.
