But we ended up leaving it in limbo due to a general lack of audience.
Back at Christmas 2025, you may remember, we released a one-off play called All Must Surely Be An Illusion to test to see whether there was a renewed appetite for the audios. Sadly, after eight months, the play has still had well under 100 views on YouTube. The audience simply isn't there to the extent that it is worth the considerable effort required to make Tech-Topia. With this in mind, we have now officially abandoned all plans to record the play. Apologies to anyone who was hoping to hear it eventually.
I am aware though that some of our listeners would still like to know what happened after the end of the Techno-Colour Tales. Therefore, the draft script mentioned above is now available to read from our website. You can see it at https://dunshelmplayers.wordpress.com/dramas/tech-topia-script-only/
As this was an early draft, it is not necessarily how the story would have finally played out. But we'll never know the final form it would have taken, and for anyone who wants to know what happens next, this is about the nearest you are going to get.
Please note that we may still make some smaller projects in the future. But the really big plays are a thing of the past.

I'm very excited to tell you that Temporal Discussion have recently been in contact with Dave Morris, author of all seven official Knightmare game books. He's very graciously agreed to an interview, so we're opening it up to the forum to find out what questions you have.
This is a really exciting opportunity for our listeners to get involved with the podcast, and your forum name will be read out with your question (unless you request otherwise)

Fantastic! They'd make great bookends.

I've actually made full dragon statue bookends before but they were for Dragonriders of Pern, which has much simpler dragons.
Pern_bookends.jpg
Doing something like that for Smirkenorff would be an awful lot of work and I'm busy with other projects at the moment. Some of which are Knightmare related.
This has reminded me I never posted a picture of my paint colour test.

Those look absolutely gorgeous. Scaled up they could easily pass for the genuine article.

I gave these ones away, so I need to make more for myself. I'll do that as a larger version when the weather warms up, so it's easier to run my printers. It would be fun to offer some to the dungeoneers at Knightmare live if they do the game expo in Birmingham again.

(It's unfortunately not consistent with the second season of Adventure Time - I had the original idea before I'd read all of TES - but maybe you can imagine it as a reboot / alternate timeline. There were some continuity issues whenever new authors took over anyway.)

To answer Beltane's question:

What's DJR 87??

I noticed while writing the story that it bizarrely had a bunch of unintended similarities to The Wizard of Oz, and decided it would be fitting if the path to the Emerald Greenwood actually resembled a yellow brick road. The corridor is therefore based on the 'bland room' that was used for many things in the original Knightmare dungeon, and the graffiti is a nod to it being created by David Rowe for the 1987 series, as if he had signed it.

Oh, I get it now! Thanks!

I'll go through those typos and bugs the next time I'm working on it.
The hidden path is either directly down from the exit door or directly left of the platform, depending on which route you take. Granitas and Olgarth will give you clues.
Talking to the Jester is a bit fiddly. You can only talk to him when he isn't moving, so just walk towards him and keep tapping the interact button. He'll give you a riddle to help pick the correct exit.
Sprinting past the Scorpion is meant to be very hard. You'll need to buy the REDUCE spell from Scaramonger and see what happens when you cast it in that room...
If you went past 'Velda', then you've surprised me by reaching level 2 via the 'hard' route.
The main route to level 2 is meant to be via Smirkenorff and there are something like five ways to convince him to carry you, depending on what you did during level 1 and what items you have.
Out of curiousity, how much of the Ramohna storyline have you found, and have you found the catacombite yet?

I did - thanks to some lucky dice rolls! Yes, I tried several routes. I did wonder whether some of the choice options were deliberate traps (like in the first KM book where it tries to catch you out with "turn to page x to use [item you can't possibly have picked up]") but they all seemed legitimate! Still can't find the MOUSE spell though.
I hope you continue with level 2 and 3!

Thanks for the feedback! Oh yes - there was one where you're invited to use a pair of sunglasses to see in a room with a... sun lion, I think?
Sorceress Orphia gives you the MOUSE spell under some conditions

A nice surprise to see that video from Michael Spicer this week. Not a total surprise though, because in 2016 he tweeted: 'In the kids' show Knightmare, the countdown clock was an image of flesh falling away from a knight's face and all of us were okay with that.'
Thanks to Michael's video going viral on various social media platforms, a lot of people have discovered Knightmare. If any of them are reading this, hello!

In The Quest For The Dragons Egg (a.k.a. the gamebook section of The Forbidden Gate, the fifth Knightmare book), Motley recites a rhyme about islanders with 'xanthous gaze' or 'eyes of virid hue' who the player may encounter later on. You have written in the Interactive Knightmare Lexicon about other aspects of this gamebook, so perhaps you had 'virid hue' in your head without realising.

Oh yeaahhh, I remember that now you mention it. The word choice in the fanfic really was coincidental (I considered a whole bunch of synonyms before settling on "virid"), but that's probably why it sounded so right to me!
