Make the edge pixels semi-transparent instead of anti-aliased to a specific colour, and they'll blend in with any background. The only possible issue is browser support. PNG feature support was definitely an issue a few years ago, but I imagine they're mostly OK, if not perfect, these days.

Most smilies seem to be designed for use on a white background and are anti-aliased to match. When they get moved to a dark background you end up with annoying white pixels around the edges.

Well, I'll make it a fairly open offer.

I'd like to get a large collection of artwork for the forum. It would be good (for example) to have a wide collection of avatars for people to use. Fraklik also had the idea of some more Knightmare-specific smilies and topic posts, which would be awesome.

So it seems like a fair trade to award special avatars/tag lines/group membership to people who make contributions to the forum. I don't have any precise details, but I'm open to offers.

Obviously contributions would need to be fairly extensive. There won't be any prizes for producing a single smiley.
That's fine, I'm sure you may have noticed that I've been doing some revamp of the Knightmare characters. So far, I have 10 sketches (soon will be 11 "Julius Scaremonger"). http://mangamad.deviantart.com/gallery/#Knightmare-characters

The most annoying part of the three stages was in fact Amber. Not because of her hair but cutting the face...only to find it looks wrong when putting it back together...ahhh white lines all over her face. >,<

...this is one thing I've also been wondering about. And should probably make a new thread, if it hasn't been done already. How old were the various Knightmare characters supposed to be in relation to their actors? I'm going to hazard a guess (given that IMDB's no help here) that Iona Kennedy was hovering somewhere round 35 in her three series - an appropriate age for Greystagg, I reckon, but Sidriss was supposed to be a decade younger. What do you all think? Is this worth a whole new thread?
