Anyway, as I sit here on a Friday evening awaiting the broadcast of the next Knightmare episode on Challenge, a thought occurred to me.

Of course the dungeoneers didn't actually eat the food they picked up on their adventures, but I was wondering that if they had a dungeoneer who had strict dietary requirements due to religion or beliefs, would the programme makers populate the dungeon with suitable food items?

For instance, if there was a Muslim dungeoneer, in order to prevent a potentially messy situation, would they have populated the dungeon with halal food, or if the dungeoneer was a vegetarian, would one find only fruits and veggies in the dungeon?

I know this sounds like a weird question, but it's something I was thinking about!

I suspect it was occasionally used as a "dumping ground".

Either that or we missed out on the "bottle of Evian" in the dungeon.

Food never reappeared once it had been placed in the knapsack, i.e. it was "used up" immediately.

When the dungeoneer was kitted back up for each room, the knapsack was re-filled.

At least some of the food was real.

I have noticed that the food bag doesn't seem to bulge, which would seem to imply that behind the scenes, the food bag was emptied.

Either that, or there are some hidden toilet facilities in the dungeon. I've always wondered what those extra doors were in the colour coded series 3 corridors...

Although the food looked real, I'm sure it wasn't. But it did look realistic! I think the producers went with normal everyday food most of the time. I wonder if dungeoneers kept all the food until the end of their quest or after filming each room they empty the bag? I imagine it would get heavy after a while!

Good question, haha... I just checked what kind of food items Daniel the Jewish dungeoneer was given, but I don't think any of them were clearly seen or identified. Can't recall if any other contestants have made their religion or dietary preferences known.

I would imagine the food props weren't real, but they do look quite realistic so I'm not sure!

Imaging how much food would be in there by level 3, and they weren't small props.

If it was real, it would have made a horrible mess inside the knapsack, wouldn't it?

Interesting question! The answer might be that because food objects were to sustain the Life Force energy sprite rather than to feed the dungeoneer, dietary restrictions didn't apply. I'd imagine that all dungeoneers entered the Dungeon aware that the purity and quality of its produce could not be guaranteed.
