Was watching Takeshi last night and what should show up but a Knightmare advert. Some guys in an office one with a bucket on his head and the other three directing him.

Quite funny i thought but at the same time got the feeling that challenge were trying to atract an adult audience in this ad.

What do other people think?

The KM section was only about two seconds - the voiceover said 'return of the cult classic Knightmare' and on screen was an office worker with a bin on his head walking into a wall, twice.

  • The short documentry (Tim Child and Hugo Myatt interviews)

  • The series 4/TCM ads

  • The series 5 (I think) and Gamesmaster ads

  • Oh and the Office one with the worker with a bucket on his head being guided into the wall by colleagues

What other ads have been shown and is there a knew different one for series 3 or are Challenge (which I doubt) showing the documentry again?

1st Mentioning Knightmare and the time it's on after other programmes. They seem to do this a lot with other shows. It's cheap, and I'd guess fairly effective. I don't hear them do it with Knightmare, really.

2nd The Documentary. Yep, nice for the fans, thought I'd guess it wasn't really an advertising tool as such.

3rd The S4 Advert. over the Summer for KM and TCM jointly. Got the point across, and showed clips, so people browsing who'd remember the show by sight if not by name would understand.

4th S5 Advert. for KM and Gamesmaster jointly. Quite funny- pity there's no clips.

5th "The guy with the bin on his head." Nice idea in theory, to fit with the way they advertised other shows in the same 20 seconds or so. At least it mentioned the show's name, I guess!

6th No Advert. That was how it was for a fair while when it was a new regular show on Challenge.

7th Giving the wrong date of the next episode after several KM installments. Yep, they did that for a while too.

So, yes, I guess the current ad. could be better, but it's an improvement on some ways they seemingly sought to promote the show in the past!

2nd - the ones over the Summer with the s4 clips

1st - the documentry for s3 (my favourite)

Oh I forgot the one with the office blokes - one with a bin on his head crashing into the wall and being laughed at by colleagues. I can't decide which one for third now out of that and the one for s5.

I didn't really like it at first but it has grown gradually on me and has started to seem quite funny. I thought similar to GG about the Treguard impressionist. I preferred the ads that Challenge had for s4 and I think that s5 should be advertised in the same way. Maybe the same way as other programmes are advertised, where they take clips of characters/people in those shows and it sounds as if they are talking about (if anyone knows what I mean).
