Re: Favourite dungeoneer deaths
my top 3 dungeneer deaths.
at 3 its Sumayas death series 6 team two with the dreadnought as they did not have the password they could have earned from heggaty
at 2 its Julie's from series 3 team 10 with the goblins ( should have got that riddle right from Merlin. I knew the answer.
and it number 1 is a tie with simon from series 4 team 4 when his advisor told him to sidestep left and Scotts death from series 3 team 9 when he leaped the gap and onto the second step. Should have got the riddle right from Golgarach mate.

Top 5
5. Miremen kill (series 5)
4. Grimwold kills (series 3)
3. Ariadne (series 2)
2. Fall off cliff (series 3) - nassty, and so sudden and unexpected!
1. Play forever (series 2) - escape the Cat, and then you're brought to an abrupt halt? it's not fair!

Re: Classic question: Favourite Team Death?
There were no miremen in season 5, and Ariadne didn't get a kill until season 4.

I presume he means Jamie's death, trapped in Ariadne's lair...HStorm wrote:Ariadne didn't get a kill until season 4.

Re: Classic question: Favourite Team Death?
I'm guessing this is a reference to Series 2 Team 5 (Tony's quest), with "Cat" being an abbreviation to the Catacombite.Aldarion wrote:1. Play forever (series 2) - escape the Cat, and then you're brought to an abrupt halt? it's not fair!
Worth mentioning that the team had to actually defeat the Catacombite and not just escape from it. To do so, they should have taken the gauntlet back in the Level 2 Clue Room - alas, they rejected it and and when it came to the Catacombite they had no means of defeating it and had to leave via the only possible exit to a room where Mogdred was lurking in wait, ready to unleash his legendary "....Play Forever" quote.

Re: Classic question: Favourite Team Death?
January series 6 'magic rope' Hands only victim, always been a fan since I first saw it way back in 1992
Simon 'sidestep to your left' series 4
Series 5 the Gillingham lot when they tried in vain advertising the 'magic ORN' in front of Skarkill
Team 1 Series 8 Richards team argue and pick wrong items in level 1 clue room and leads to premature exit with Bhal-Shebah
Series 2 Neal gets clobbered by Cedric and rightly so.

Re: Classic question: Favourite Team Death?
Top 5 for me:
1. Series 7, Ben: Trial by Spikes. Terrific tension throughout the entire level with the troll pursuit, and the execution - if you will pardon the pun - is infinitely better than the relatively insipid death of Team 4, who struggle in this room.
2. Series 1, Danny: Bomb room. I am continually awed by how remarkably bold this first ever bomb killing was. A visibly young team, doing very well, made one unfathomable slip-up, and the consequences were fatal.
3. Series 3, Ross: 'Morghanna's Ledge'. Series 3 had a wonderful knack with sustained pressure. Such a falling was not so dramatic as some of the later years, but the ledge was an excellent and memorable room for a young me, Natasha Pope was fantastic, and the chase just perfect for a 'will they or won't they' scenario.
4. Series 6, Sophia: Great Causeway. A great quest, very entertaining, and a return to 'old-school' Knightmare: a worthy team lacked one answer, and we awaited the outcome. Graphics, timing, and the visible disappointment make this memorable.
5. Series 8, Richard: Bhal-Shebah. Series 8 had several memorable deaths, but there was something about instilling difficulty from minute one. A dragon type once so difficult so acquire was now roaming Level 1. Back, again, to 'old-school' Knightmare. One glaring error = toast.
I had to think quite hard for these, and quite a fulfilling exercise it turned out to be!

Re: Favourite dungeoneer deaths
My favourites, in chronological order:
~ Death by Cedric. Just because he's awesome.
~ Team Douglas in Series 3, because they really had it coming. They messed up pretty much every room! Three strikes and you're blown to smithereens.
~ Skarkill and the magic horn. What a fantastic scene, great improvisation from all involved. That lead advisor showed such imagination in trying to bluff their way out of it - full marks for effort, shame it didn't pay off!
~ Eaten by the Blocker. A very surreal episode with many amusing elements, but the single most hilarious part is the way Chris just goes "What?" in his helium voice, a moment before being swallowed!
~ The two CoB deaths in Series 5, because they were so richly deserved. I love the way Duncan finally steps out of the Descender and just doesn't stand a chance! (Treguard's summary is funny as hell, too: "You missed your station, and now Duncan is missing parts of his body!")
S5 was a particularly good series for entertaining deaths, it would appear! (Mind you, the rest were all straightforward Causeway plunges.)
~ Two-nil, I think... that was just so chilling and completely unexpected. (Well, their death could be seen coming a mile off, but Lord Fear's gloating laughter was a brilliant surprise!)
~ Both of the Trial By Spikes deaths, as I was *willing* them to die after making such a hash of things. The latter of the two was particularly satisfying, with the skewering sound and the visuals left to our imagination! The phrase "Oooh, nasty" seems more appropriate than ever, when you have an obstacle like this...

Re: Classic question: Favourite Team Death?
Of the ones I've seen, I think these are all worth mentioning.
Season 1 Team 1 - What was it that was draining the life force? We'll never know.
Season 1 Team 4 - BOOM!
Season 2 Team 5 - Mogdred's laugh, combined with the whole "playpen" idea makes this rather creepy.
Season 2 Team 8 (I think) - Somewhat similar in the sense that the team were trapped.
Season 2 Team 11 - The moral of this story: examine labels with care.
Season 3 Team 9 - I really hadn't expected any team to die in Merlin's chamber.
Season 3 Team 10 - Mainly for being entertaining. "Say hello to the goblin, Julie!"
Season 3 Team 11 - A sudden surprise, and a barbeque soon follows...
Season 4 Team 4 - What more can I say?
Season 5 Team 2 - Skarkill makes a total fool out of this team: "That's a goblin 'orn that, you 'orrible li'l thing!"
All brilliant.
