I thought most of the riddles and answers where in the 'quest books' they have to study before going on ??

Anway without the hard questions Knightmare would be a little easy. which meens not your everyday joe is going to win. After all each team has some idea what they are going to face and i'm sure they get more help than we see.  >:(

I think the riddle was something like:

"There is a circle of stones at Stonehenge, but where else in England is such a ring to be found?"

The answer was Avonbury. Apparently.

Avebury.

It really is quite famous, you know. ;-)

Heh, I seem to have notifications enabled for this thread, although I can't see why I would've ticked that box in particular...

Now that it's been raised, it's worth noting that it contains spoilers for the rest of the series, so if we are still trying to avoid giving things away for the people who are only watching it through for the first time, some friendly moderator might want to edit Purgatory's (and possibly mine on the previous page) comments about things happening in later episodes.

Series 3 Episode 6

Post by Tom41 »

I decided to post this new topic rather than replying to the old one, in case the old topic contains spoilers of the next few episodes.

Mogdred appeared to the team at the beginning, and gave them a GLORY spell - which the team decided wisely they wouldn't use! Then the sword appeared again. Although they disspelled SORWD almost immediately, the life-force drain was accelerated until they used the ENERGY spell to restore it!

Next room, which used to be the Combat Chess room, Mogdred appeared again and summoned a giant snake to come out of the pit! Look closely and you can just see the snake before it fades in!

Next, first appearance of the room with the cat statues firing lasers. The adviser again said it was a timing exercise! Was it really necessary to hold the shield above his head to avoid the lasers?
I've never been able to figure out this room - something to do with the colours of the cat's medals?

In the stained glass room, tried to use the Stardust but nothing happened. Without information from the gargoyle, they took the wrong path - and fell off a cliff! (incidentally, the same background that the previous dungeoneer fell off)

I think, since they were in losing status having failed the gargoyle's riddle, all paths in the stained glass window room were the 'wrong' path. I wonder what the Stardust would have been used for? Or indeed the shield, since they already got past the Medusa (and I doubt it was for the cat statues room).

Next team came into the Dice Room. "You're in a room with no visible means of exit". This time, a shield symbol was above the left door when the dice opened up!

Then, the pool room again. This time, a magic sword came out of the water and chased them all the way to the exit! Notice he seems to walk into the wall as they say 'walk forwards', but were still let into the next room!

In the clue room, notice how they took the orange to restore life force, but then took it out of the knapsack and put it back on the table as Golgarach appeared! The life force animation reset to green, then warped back to amber as he took the orange out! I wonder what would happen if he took out a food item from the knapsack in a later room? ;)
They scored 2/3 on the riddles, and took the horn and the gold.

Chased by an armored warrior in the room which used to be Ariadne's Lair, while a skull blocked the right door. The armored warrior still chased them in the green valley/path area, then cornered them in the room with the waterfall! Used the horn to summon Velda, who shot the warrior to stun him ;)
In the next room, Velda wasn't too pleased with the fact the dungeoneer was carrying the elf-horn! Had to give it back to her.

This time, Mrs Grimwold (and Festus) were in the kitchen instead of the wellway room! How could the dungeoneer see the pie far away without tilting his head back or removing the helmet?
Timed out after he got the pie.

Another fantastic recap as usual, Tom41!

Yes, it's the medal colours in the cat room you need to look out for- when they're green, they're safe, when they're amber, don't jump, and when they're red it means they're about to fire the laser. It's a bit like traffic lights. The 'bat' in the stained glass room looked a little, erm, cheap, although this IS 1989. I noticed the 'between room' sound effect was lower pitch than usual, and I've no idea how James knew there was a pie on the far side of the room- perhaps he was told to say it by a production staff member off screen?

half and half this ep,
1st half is great. 2nd half new team is rubbish.. they are terrible, very slow in that green vale.

is level 2 shorter than level 1?

I always forget that the green vale is level 1 and the caves is level 2..

Well lots of sword action.. with seen Mogdred cast up a sword twice now (s4) so i guess all swords are Mogdred doing. and in the stain glass it looks like the took the correct path... same path as season 2, and I'm sure you could see a mark on the path..

They should have tyred that glory spell.

Now what did I see tonight then. I managed to turn to Challenge just before the end of the opening subtitles for the first time in a while. So the ep starts more or left where the last one ended, in the clueroom. Mogdred also appeared. Next room with a pit and Mogdred's trademark evil scary laugh, which a snake then appears. Reminds me of the room with the dreaded Kar. For some reason I then went out of the room to do something, only to discover a plague of ants, half of which were queen ants and a dozen or two ants nests in my garden. After spending the next 10-15 minutes trying to get rid of them I finally rejoined to watch the rest of the ep, which I'd already missed half of and to see the knew team with James in the clue room. Saw James being approached by a warrier in the room with the entrance to the long green cavern path, follwed along the path and then blocked. Team decide to blow the horn, which summons Velda who defeats the warrier. In the next room Velda asks James where he found the horn and demands it be returned to her. In the kitchen Mrs G is sitting at a table with a few bones on. After telling James about not standing about for too long where he is, she wants to know what he has for her. He offers her the gold which she is pleased with. After she leaves Treguard warns them that James needs food and so he is directed to the table and instructed to put a bone in the knapsack. Treguard says that that is not food and James mentions that he could see a pie. He is asked to go over to the pie and told to put it in his knapsack. Temperal disruption occurs as they are about to exit the kitchen.

The progress report was a spoiler, suggesting that they "blundered."

Mogdred tempted the dungeoneer to take of the Helmut, told them the objects were useless and that GLORY was the spell they should use.

Tok the Stardust and the Shield, probably the right objects. Dispelled the sword but had to use their lifeforce spell.

Tried to take the stairs but "the only was is downward" and arrived in Ka's room.

Bit of an odd one next, I wasn't sure that the floor was filled in either.

Notice they though the Chalice piece was a candlestick.

Into the stained glass room. Note the bat. Tried the stardust to reveal the path. Since missing the clue they
have become very unsure of what to do. I reckon that the gargolye would have given them a spell to reveal
their path.

Fell out of the dungeon but were UNITEd instead of DISMISSed. Became champions for getting the furthest.

New team. Through the sheild door into the pool room where a sword came out of the water.

Into Golgarach's room where they scored 2 out of 3.

Told to take the horn of "Elvandis" and that the first step was the salute.

Followed the the Behemoth and had to "sound the alarm" which summoned Velda.

Met Mrs Grimwold in the Kitchen. Tried to take a bone for food but they found a pie on the range.

Just made it to the door at timeout.

On the subject of the pie (whether he saw it) if you remeber in the Challenge documentary someone (I think Hugo Matt) says that if they tipped their head back they could see across the room and would then be blindfolde, which would make it very difficult in Clue Rooms and when walking about (i.e. as long as you can see your feet you are steady) I remeber an incident in a later series when, after casting a SIGHT spell the dungeoneer still couldn't see the puzzle.
Good night out there; whatever you are!

I actually think Leo had the right idea with the stardust (Sprinkle it in front of the stain glass window, as that might have shown the right path by lighting it up or something of the sort.) I thought this was a good guess using their imagination. Maybe the gargoyle would have told them where to sprinkle the stardust?

And as for the pie, either he tipped his head back to see ahead (as Harvey mentioned) or he smelt pie ;)
The only way is onward, there is no turning back. Oooh nasty, didn't realise the road ended there!

That ledge that Ross fell off of would have been a better death scene, because the Cavern Cliff doesn't have multiple drops or ledges, where as the one I just pointed out had a ledge and a useless cave that was unused...
If the only way is onward how would you get home for tea?? :-/
