I hope it is new episodes. But I doubt very much they've bought Series 5 or anything else. Advertising is always so misleading that "brand new" can practically mean anything unshown in the last two minutes. Perhaps we should take them to court over it, and get compensation for our raised expectations: if we got 50% of their programme budget in damages, we'd have the grand sum of £5.75 to spend on some ice cream, or something.
Well it was just a crazy thought and I realise that it may not be true, but it just made me think it when I keep watching the adverts advertising NEW EPISODES of Knightmare all this month Weeknights at 6PM and Series 3 is not new is it.

I'm still going to have a tape on standby tomorrow just in case though ;)

Good job. Here's hoping beyond hope. I'm still looking forward to my share of the ice cream, however.

What about candy floss and popcorn? Anyway what sort of icecream is it? Hagen Dazs, Ben and Jerry's, Carte Dore? Any others? Or loads of the cheap economy supermarket own brand!

Series 4 Episode 15

(merge with current thread if it exists)

Resumed from time-out at Dooris. The team gave the calling but messed up slightly "Open the door and let us through" - but the door still responded.
Scored 2/3 on the True or False riddles and the door opened, gaining them passage.

In the eye-shield room, Merlin was stuck in the stocks, with a witch who hurredly took his drink away ;)
Unusually, they couldn't free him right now, since they had to go and find a key first! Merlin explained that he (and the stocks) could be called from anywhere, and that the key was made of iron. Then they were allowed to take the Eye-Shield.
The witch then came back into the room and summoned her magic broom to 'sweep' the dungeoneer out!

Then came outside the Crazed Heffer (was there an edit just before he entered this area?). The early Pooka appeared again so they had to make a swift 'entrance' into the inn!

Motley was telling jokes inside the Inn - and got pelted with cabbages for his 'knife to see you' bad joke! Motley gave the team a DASH spell for free, then guided Giles out of the Inn.
"You're going down some stairs as you can see..." - no he can't, he's got the helmet on and can't see the eye-shield anyway ;)

Used the DASH spell in the next eye-shield forest sequence to escape from a goblin hunting party. We saw the goblins looking around in the clearing after Giles went through the portal!

In Oakley's glen, Oakley appeared and set them the usual 3 riddles. Strange 3rd riddle 'how do you turn an oak into an ash... by burning it'. Wouldn't that imply that he WASN'T a tree-friend?
Scored 3/3 on the riddles, and gained a clue from Oakley. "The bloodstone leads to bloodshed" so it was pretty obvious to take the other two items on the stump!
Is it just me, or was Giles sniffing the 'sniff' bottle a couple of times?

The eye-shield sequences were obviously pre-recorded, but the advisers didn't know that! They kept trying to make Giles sidestep and turn!
In the entrance of Dungarth, encountered Mellisandre and asked her for directions to Level 2. Mellisandre gave them a complex sequence of directions to get to the wellway room. An assassin appeared just as they were getting out of the entryway - and the advisers are still trying to give Giles directions in the eye-shield sequence ;)

The next room, the witch was back, and this time introduced herself as Mistress Goody. After a brief bit of chit-chat, they entered the moving corridor. After a bit of discussion, they decided to throw the spanner down to stop the machinery and exited through a side door.

Next was the wellway room, but Fatilla the Hun was on guard. They got past him by giving him the SNIFF bottle - he sniffed it, and started sneezing! They were able to get down the wellway while he was distracted.

Landed on a table in Level 2. Picked up an apple for food, and found Gundrada stuck in the stocks. Gundrada thought Giles was an assassin at first, but they let her out of the stocks and gained her trust. An armored knight appeared (first reference to a Fright Knight), Gundrada kept the knight busy while Giles escaped from the room.
Timed out in the eye-shield sequence as he exited. Boat-ride footage under the credits.

One of the advisors today said something to Treguard that I've wanted to say to him since this series started:
"Hold up the eye shield!"
"Why?"
A great moment when the advisor on the far right let out a gasp when the Assassin came, too! And Motley gets what he deserves when he tells the epitome of a bad joke.

Tomorrow sees the Series 4 finale, which features a superb ending wildly regarded as the best ever...

NOT!

I tuned in just as Giles had finished talking to Merlin and went to pickup the Eye shield (due to watching the Olympics and not realising the time). Made a getaway as they Giles was about to be swept by Mistress Goody and her broom. Outside the Crazed Heifer an early pooka appears so quickly went into the Inn. Inside were quite a few people sitting at tables and Motley juggling and trying to entertain, who spots Giles and asks him to sit down. At the table Motley does a bottom meet seat intro before Giles sits down. Motley then proceeds to tell the locals a joke, which doesn't go down well and results in him being bombarded with cabbages. Motley then accuses Giles of messing his act up. Before Giles leaves Motley gives him a DASH spell. Outside in the forest goblins are approaching so the DASH spell is cast, which makes Giles run into the portal and the goblins lose him. Next onto Oakley, who as usual accuses Giles of stealing after Giles takes the food. Oakley tests them, which they get two right. They take the bottle with sniff on and the wrench. Outside Dungarth Melisandre is sitting on the floor playing with daisie's, she sais a rhyme or something before noticing Giles near her. after telling Giles the way to the wellway an assassin appeared as he was leaving. Giles didn't have to yell at it as the eyeshield sequence kicked in. At the entrance to the moving corridor, Giles meets Mistress Goody again, who asks them if they'd like the "straight through" (I think) or the "Cut price special"? On making a decision she said that they were going to get the "straight through as that is all there was. Had the "Cut price special" have been the Corridor of Blades? In the corridor one of the advisors says about putting the wrench down, whilst another advisor asks Giles if he can see something on the floor. They are then given clues on how to stop the corridor moving and Giles is then told to throw the wrench down which stops the corridor moving. He then exited through a side exit and into a wellway room guarded by Fatilla. After asking Giles what he had and the usual threats he offers Fatilla the Sniff bottle and asks him to sniff it. Fatilla sniffs the bottle resulting in him starting to choke, which Giles then makes an escape down the well. He lands on a table, with a sword leaning against the side. He picks up some food off the table and then gets off the table. He then goes to pickup the sword and is told to leave it by 'Gunwada the sord mistwiss'. Gundrada in the stocks, thinks that he's an assassin and so had to convince her he wasn't. She then tries to get him to release her and whilst the advisors try to decide on what to do, Pickle says that he can hear footsteps. They are then told that they need to hurry and decide whether to rescue Gundrada or save themselves. They decide to rescue Gundrada, which then a Fwightnight appears. Giles then leaves, whilst Gundrada goes into battle with the Knight.

You know what I think? We should give each episode an individual title, rather than Series x Episode x. I'm calling this one "Go, Giles, Go!" from what Bret said today.

Yet another variation on the calling today - "True or False, False or True, open the door and let us through". That's the trouble with something long like that, it's just too hard to remember it exactly. Dooris appears anyway, though, as usual when the calling's mixed up.

Oh god, he's not in a Thing That Constrains People AGAIN, is he? Except this time there's a twist to the tale - it's actually locked this time, and they can't get Merlin out until the key in level 3, I see. The Eye Shield covered with a yellow cloth for some bizarre reason.

After a trip to the Crazed Heffer (what do they call it if someone wants sugar in their tea, Heffer Lumps?) and an escape from the goblins, it's Oakley time. "How do you turn Oak into Ash?" By giving it a Pokéball, of course. And then onto Mellisandre's swansong, who for some reason thinks Giles is an assassin. Erm, why? Assassins don't wear yellow shirts and a pointy helmet.

Yay, Mistress Goody's moment of fame! Too late for any big speeches, though, so she just sends them into the Corridor of No-Blades. They get out by throwing a spanner into the works. Then Fatilla, who you have to feel sorry for, since we never see him again after choking uncontrollably.

Level 2, and Gundrada's stuck in something I'm not even going to bother mentioning. She also thinks he's an assassin - hello? Has the dungeon gone mad? They let her out, and she fends off a frightknight as they make their escape. And there we time out.

They're a great team, don't you think? Only something really ridiculous could stop them now, like, I dunno, Christmas. But that'd never happen!

More ridiculous than that; Christmas filmed in July. >:(

When Frightknight Mark 1 appears, it sounds like one of the advisors says "oh no, there's a monster!" - confirming that all of these anonymous knights are "less than human"

Yes, but you know - don't you - that all Christmas programs/music are recorded in the summer.
Except Presley's first Christmas LP which was recorded in April or May (come to think of it, I'm sure Slade's grate-est hit was also recorded in late spring)!

Team captain Brett writes:

During the Level one Merlin sequence when Giles picked up the Eye Shield our view was so detailed we could see the time on Giles' watch - 11.15 or so in the morning! I don't think it can be seen on the film, perhaps it was blurred out in post-production.

During the conveyor belt sequence we were looking out for some machinery - some works to 'throw the spanner in'. At length I just said 'Throw the spanner down the corridor'. The conveyor belt stopped. Then it reversed. Too late! There were no more side doors and so the conveyor belt continued to the end.

The producer - I don't know why in certain posts people make out he's been overly secretive about any details (be reasonable!) - come on and said 'we always allow one Level one boo-boo - and this was yours'. At this point we still had a London-based backup team (and would have until well into Level 3). In my opinion this challenge was too abstruse (where were the works?) - perhaps whoever came up with it was in the mindset of those early text-based adventure games with two-word entry (e.g. THROW SPANNER). It is possible that the TV crew shared this view of the challenge when it came down to the reality of it.

The producer also pointed out that I'd said the correct course of action ('throw the spanner down the corridor') and with re-filming of Giles we have what you've seen.

How did Giles know to call "Merlin" three times when he found the key? Merlin didn't even tell you his name when you met him in Level 1. Did you already know who it was, or did the production team tell you in between scenes?

Brett writes:

It was the latter, Canadanne. As I recall, just before we filmed the Level 3 scene where Merlin reappeared, the floor manager said something like "So you're looking for a key ... do you know who it was for? ... [Merlin] ... Yes, it's no secret that it was Merlin. When you find the key, make sure Giles calls out his name (clearly?) (three times?)."
