Recording of original title sequence

Post by ssu95bm »

Hi folks,

I was pleased to find this site, having watched the programme avidly as a kid and enjoyed the re-runs on Challenge a few years back. (As a kid I used to wonder if the dungeoneer got out alive!)

Anyway...

I am trying to find a copy of the original (series 1-3) titles sequence. I'm hoping to use it in a piece of video I am producing for the Church holiday fun club. Is there any chance of getting hold of a copy from anyone? It needs to be roughly VHS quality or higher, with or without channel ident logos ("Challenge" or whatever). Without channel ident logo would be preferred, but I can work around it.

If anyone can help that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Bruce

The sequence can be downloaded from the original homepage of Knightmare. The site still exists, but has been abandoned for about eight years. The link for the sequence is http://members.xoom.com/Knightmare1/theme.zip. Sadly, it's in an early Apple/Quicktime format, and is therefore not high quality.

A better bet may be to contact Televirtual and ask them for guidance. Go to http://www.televirtual.com/about.htm and follow the contact instructions there. (Tim Child's generally approachable, so don't be shy.)

Alternatively, Granada Media own the surviving remnants of Anglia TV, and they should be able to make a copy of the sequence for you. Unfortunately, they'll probably charge you a fair bit for it. Go to http://www.itvregions.com/Anglia/Contact/ and ask around; they can't charge you just for that.

Hi there,
Many thanks.
I tried the first link and it did not work. However, I've taken your second suggestion and emailed Tim Child. I will hold the Granada Media option in reserve.

Hi, Bruce, and welcome to the forum. As you might have noticed when you first found the website, RealMedia files of KM's original opening sequence are available to download from knightmare.com's Clips section, as audio or as video. I'm not sure how you'd go about transferring that to VHS though, if that's the aim.

I'd be interested to hear more about your church fun club project, and how it involves Knightmare. I hope it goes smoothly.

I've uploaded the sequence from the original Homepage to my website. Follow this link to a page you can download it from; -

http://havetstorm.tripod.com/knightmare/id49.html

I'll leave it up for about a month, but I'll have to get rid of it soon for bandwidth limits.

I don't recommend trying to use the RealMedia clip from the Infosite by the way, as the picture's at a very low resolution and frame-rate; doesn't sound very handy for the project you have in mind.
