Re:Here's a mad idea...

I actually own two C64's - one in the orginal beige and brown, and the other in the updated off-white style. I haven't played them in a considerable amount of time, because the powerpacks have blown up. But I have the CCS64 emulator on my PC, with about 200 games, and it gets played to death (when I'm not screwing around playing Super Metroid and Jurassic Park on ZSNES, and Bionic f**king Commando on JNES, gwa ha ha!). Oh, and well done to the first person who can tell me where the quote at the bottom of this post originated from!

And Elita, I was aware of the 'otaku' reference, though I may have been somewhat flippant in its application above. Apologies for any offence caused. That said, the only thing stopping me from being a genuine otaku myself is that I've never dressed up as a game character in public (apart from last Hallowe'en, when me and my housemates dressed up as Resident Evil-style zombie schoolboys)...but enough, already.

ANYWAY, back to the topic in hand please, unless someone wants to start a thread on this.

The Isometric Causeway Demo #01 will be uploaded by Friday, thank you very much.

Why, that's clearly from Impossible Mission. (not to be confused with Mission: Impossible) ;D Now how about Blue Valkyrie shot the food!

I wanted a beige C64 since that's what I originally had, but could only get the Amiga-style 90's reissue. I don't generally go for emulators since I don't have a (working) PC joystick, which is irritating when playing a game I had as a kid because I'm used to joystick controls. (Samurai Warrior/Usagi Yojimbo is pure torture on the keypad)

I'm not offended by use of the word 'otaku', most of the time I'm laughing at the teenagers on LJ who label themselves as 'otaku' thinking it means 'anime-fan'.

Frightknight: I was never a fan of the Sensible Soccer series, but I DID have Knightmare-themed Worms teams. It's so satisfying landing bazooka missiles on Pickle's head...

...was that a reference to a certain C64 magazine named Zzap 64?

There's omething that would be great in the game a Smerkinoff sequence.

With Elita as his keeper She was miles better then Rommanar and better looking.

.....game.....game? What?!

Yes, back to the topic in hand. Christ, I'll rue the day I ever mentioned the word 'isometric' in a chat forum.

A Smirkenoff sequence may indeed be cool, though I can't see it adding anything to the game other than a bit of waiting around, personally. And sadly, I haven't got any fully-licensed 3D engines in my pocket to knock up a flying sequence anyway - this is supposed to be streamlined, yes?

Don't worry, I'm sure I can work him in there somehow. Although to be honest, the Smirkenoff sections never did much for me anway (unless there were ladies involved.....stop it).

I haven't drawn any characters or animation yet, so I was wondering if you could give me some pointers regarding the style. Might as well start with some obvious questions.

- What should the Dungeoneer look like?

and...

- Should we remain totally shackled to the 'classic' character costumes, or can we update/revamp/modify/sexualize their attire?

I await your replies.

Dungeoneer should look like, well, a dungeoneer. With a series 1-6 helmet, of course.

And Smirkenhoff sequences can be produced if you've ever seen the in-between level sequence in Revenge of the Mutant Camels. Without the 'goat' sounds, of course. ::)

Hang on....'sexualise' attire? ;D
