The idea certainly has potential.
It's something I look at every now and then. But I think you'd struggle to find anyone with the time :/

Forester ran a Knightmare MUD for a while (back sometime around the development of KMRPG6 or thereabouts), but everyone who participated quickly lost interest. That's probably why there isn't one...
