A couple more things:

- After extensive discussion in the room and with individual Chatters, I've decided the following: there will only be a handful of ops (+o / @). Very few. All the bots are voices (+v / +). Everyone else is a 'normal' user or a 'prole'. The main call was for equality in the room. Ops are only present to enforce anything, but I doubt that will happen. Seriously.

- The only exceptions to this are myself and Forester. I own the chat room and I am a 'Founder' (~). Forester owns the network which holds IKM and KM Chat. He is called an IRCop, and if he comes into the room he is a SOP (&) and protected.

That's all. The current ops are myself, Forester and Kieran [EDIT: ...and Billy. And Billy.]; the bots/voices are Cypher, Caei and Jobe. I'm hoping to avoid the problem of too many or too few users with 'status' as that always causes problems within a Room. We're having lots of fun in #Knightmare so let's keep it that way!

Knightmare Chat [Reclaimed!]

Post by Pooka »

The chat room is back after having been down for a while.

If the server is giving you trouble try the alternative, irc.knightmare.org.uk port 6667.

I won't be here this weekend, but I'm sure the ops will be around, not that there are any rules that need enforcing! Please go there for fun and frolics!

For whatever reasons, your 3 appointed ops have, between them, had only 1 visit during an active weekend chat since mid-March; so I wouldn't bet on that. ;) It perhaps reinforces the opinion that having as many chatters as possible being responsible and considerate is more worthwhile than giving powers and status to people who are too unenthused or busy to even be present. (Or to put it another way, see 17/02/08 chat log, 22:20:37.)

On the plus side, former #knightmare manager Darren now has greatly improved internet access, so there's a chance that he will become a chatroom regular again.

Hello again!

Just so you know... I've been absent from Chat a bit lately, but a few people have still been chatting there. Anyway, some odd stuff happened with it, and with Forester's help, I've reclaimed ownership.

Let's try and get it active again. I'll be around in Chat this Saturday (6th Sept) and Sunday (7th Sept), and I'd encourage people to come long and get chatting, like we always used to.

Billy, Darren and Kieran, you will need to re-register your nicks for your op status back.

Knightmare Chat [Reclaimed Again!]

Post by Pooka »

Yeah, so, I've been a bad admin, I know - but I got ownership of the chat room back again (thanks Forester) after the server went down and then that was restored (I need to keep an eye on these things, really).

So: Knightmare Chat is back on, Sundays 8:00pm!

(And any time you want to use the room).

I'm sorry for my almost consistent absence recently. Anyone who would like to come back, please do, of course. Ops who want their op status back are invited to re-register their nicks so I can give them their status (we need the ops in case I go AWOL once again).

See you there, I hopes!

The chat has its slow weeks, but there have been some extremely active weeks with lots going on. Lots of the community have things going on in the real world, and those must be a priority. I try to get in whenever I can, but as a community we all need to make a little more effort. Not just in the chat, but on these forums too.
