Invent your own clue objects

Post by AriadnesLayer »

Came across this...

http://www.gothic.co.uk/acatalog/R102.jpg

And thought it would have made a cool clue object, possibly for use in Ariadne's Lair. Wearing it would freeze the spider for a short time and allow you to grab some food before exiting.

Failure to acquire the ring earlier in the quest would mean you had to make a quick exit from Ariande's Lair, unable to grab the food, and would die of starvation in the next room.

What do you think? What clue objects can you come up with?

If by Quest Object you mean object of the quest (Chalice, Shield, etc), I think the ones that actually meant something which could be worked into the stories of the quests rather than sounding generic and tacked on were cooler. (Your Quest is for the Maid, for example.)

An egg of Smirkenorff for that, maybe?

On the other hand, if you mean object to be used within the dungeon, as your example gives, then how about an enchanted gauntlet which could catch and reflect one of Lord Fear's fireballs if worn for the Level 3 end of quest encounter?

Or something that actually stands a chance of being used rather than the dungeoneer dying with it in xyr hands, how about one a magic juggling balls, acquired in a trade/exchange for help/exchange for a joke from the Motley or Folly (season dependent) and when thrown homes in on the desired target (use it to hit a switch, pull a lever, disarm a troll to leave enough time to get down the well) before returning to the jester's hand. (Or given back to the owner in exchange for his summoning name or magic)

the shed of dread

it is a magic flat pack shed, you have to collect the bits that are strewn on different levels. when you collect them all it magically appears and you can like go in it or something.

Weird, I have this sudden image of Dunshelm as a wooden prefab on the Hackney Marshes.
