October 18th 2009 Forum Hack
Posted: 20 Oct 2009, 19:14
Some miserable buggers decided to hack the forum.
We're not entirely certain what the purpose of the hack was, since nothing was defaced or permanently changed. Unfortunately, they seemed to do a small amount of unnecessary but critical damage which required some patch work on the forum to make it operational.
After repairing the forum to make it functional, we carried out an extensive analysis to determine what, if anything, had been done. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to draw any conclusions. So if you notice anything amiss, please let us know.
You are advised to change your password on the forum and with any other services you use that share this password (particularly your email account). Passwords are kept encrypted, but it's feasible that they may have somehow been compromised in some other way.
