Any past winners up for being interviewed?

Post by Viceguy »

Hi guys,

Apologies for the out of the blueness of this post. If I'd known this forum existed earlier I'd have been a devoted lurker years ago.

My name is Ben and I work at VICE. It's a media company creating articles, documentaries, films etc.

I was wondering if any past winners would be up for being interviewed? The piece would appear on our gaming channel: http://www.vice.com/en_uk/gaming

Here's a previous piece I did: http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/youre-fi ... -guide-238

Anyway, let me know if anyone is interested. My email address is ben.oliver@vice.com

All the best.

Hi Ben,

He's possibly seen or been alerted to this by now but I strongly advocate you messaging Mystara aka Alan from Knightmare's last official winning team in Series 8.

Hopefully now you're here you can enjoy the rest of the site and engage as much as you can. :)

regards

Welcome to the forum, Ben. Out-of-the-blueness is no problem: after all, Knightmare itself came out of the bluescreen.

It's great to hear about the prospect of a new Knightmare article. Knightmare's first winning dungeoneer, Mark Wickson, has given interviews before. And the second winning dungeoneer, Jason Karl, has a media profile so may be interested too.

As for Alan, his experience covers not just Knightmare but also Knightmare Live, the 2014 Knightmare Convention and this very website, so there's plenty of insight to be gained. Personally I hear enough out of him but your readers may feel differently. ;)

Yes, I too suggest Alan, AKA Mystara. He's been featured before in a 25th-anniversary documentary made by forum member JamesA (I was there when that segment was filmed!) and has very clear memories. He may even be able to put you in touch with other members of his team if he has their details.

It may also help to interview any team members, even if they didn't win! Brett (from series 4's final team) has posted several times on this forum and I believe JamesA has contact with Rae from an earlier team. If you look around here I'm sure you'll find some more people to interview.

Hope that helps. I'm sure you'll be pleased to know I actually subscribe to Vice. :green:

Have contacted Jason Karl regarding this.

Hopefully he'll be in touch very soon.

Hi guys,

Thank you all for the huge amount of help.

Jason and Oliver have been in touch and between them I think we've got a great piece in the making.

Thanks again.

PS: I went to see Isy Suttie last week and her show was full of Knightmare references. Good to know it's still getting air time.

Isy is lovely, and a real Knightmare fan. We really need to arrange a trip to see her show!

Hi again,

Just to keep you guys posted:

The interviews have been recorded and the final draft is ready to go.

Photos are the last piece of the puzzle.

Do any of you kind folk have any high-res Knightmare photography or artwork you'd be willing to share?

It'll really help bring the piece to life.

Cheers!

We have numerous images from the show and corresponding PR material. However, all of it is subject to copyright (as are all the images on the website) and so cannot be shared.

I have a number of high quality images from the Knightmare convention, which show some parts of the Knightmare Dungeon and some of the characters. Those could potentially be used.

What was it like to be a winning contestant?

Post by JamesA »

Vice.com recently published an online article featuring interviews with Jason Karl (Series 2) and Oliver Hilton (Series 8 ), asking them how it felt to emerge victorious after appearing on Knightmare.
