Hello from Lower Saxony :)

Post by tuborboth »

Hi :)

I´m from Lower Saxony (Germany). Because Knightmare wasn´t never ever shown on german television, I watched most episodes on tape ;)
Kinghtmare is so cool! What a pity they canceld it in 1994 :(
But maybe someday Knightmare will retun! :)

best wishes

Welcome to the forum, Markus.

To be honest, I think the odds are against it coming back, although it was looking very promising four years or so ago. There's still hope of course, but whatever happens, there are plenty of fan contributions out there to keep the world of KM from going into limbo.

Incidentally, Germany was one of the countries that came close to getting its own version of the series. Sadly the negotiations fell through; it would've been fascinating seeing dungeoneers questing through the Holy Roman Empire!

Hi. It's always good to hear of Knightmare fans in other countries. And according to the Knightmare books, Treguard was an Anglo Saxon, so there is a distant connection to Saxony. :)

The word Saxon is certainly not uncommon in these parts, as Drassil has mentioned.

Nice to see you about here.

I am interested to hear how you ever heard about Knightmare in the first place. :)

hey, thanks for your friendly replies! :):):)

@Drassil

Treguard was an Anglo-Saxon? That´s cool! :)
Yes, we Saxons have spread out all over this world ;)

@ Mashibinbin

your german is wirklich sehr gut! :)
here is a list with some Knightmare specific words in german:

corridor of blades = der Gang der Klingen
doom = Verhängnis, Untergang
dungeon = Kerker
dungeon master = Kerkermeister (sounds like a song title by Rammstein ;)
dungeoneer = there is no german word for dungeoneer , I would translate it with "Abenteurer" like "adventurer"
eyeshield = Augenschutz, Augenblende
goblin = Kobold
helmet of justice = Helm der Gerechtigkeit
knapsack = Rucksack, Ranzen
Life Force= Lebenskraft
Lord Fear = Fürst der Furcht
miremen= Sumpfwesen
naaasty = böööööse :D
quest = Schatzsuche
serpent= Schlange
snap dragon = Schnapp Drache
trapdoor= Falltür
wall monster = Monster in der Mauer
wizzard = Hexenmeister, Zauberer

@ Kieran

well, many years ago I could watch BFBS in our cable network and they brought "Knightmare" :)
But unfortunately I had to move and in the new city they had no BFBS (they had and have no UK television at all :( , but I didn´t forget Knightmare and a few years ago I found knightmare.com about google and that made me very happy :)

Wow Knightmare sounds pretty good in German - especially 'Monster in der Mauer' :)

There must be some good castles in Lower Saxony
