Hordriss, And the prime evils.

Post by Purgatory »

How many prime evils where there in Knightmare overall?

i'm counting 5 but i'm pretty sure i've missed one?
Who was ment to be the 'big boss' in the 1st season?

Also a note about Hordriss, i never really understood why he became more on the side of light after season 4. I know he had issues with lord fear but before that him and Treguard never really saw eye to eye.  I guess they need someone up to Merlin standard to be in the side of light but i always thought Hordriss was at his best when he was on nether side... at least that way u never knew what to expect

Prime Evils?  You've been playing Diablo 2 too much, especially considering your name and sig ;-)

I can only think of 5 members of the opposition that teams had to 'beat' to win: Mogdred, Morghanna, Malice, Lord Fear, and Aessandre.  The others were never really main level 3 opponents.

I thought there was another level 3 boss? oh well.

Well they are Prime evils lol.

In fact my sig is wrong, should have been Baëll which i will change,  Never really payed much attention to Diablo 2 as my machine can't handle it, but i loved the original, But i've always been a fan of Demonology..   i have always liked the name 'Mephistophiles' or Mephisto for short.. a nasty little devil but one of gods tools and opponents, tends to come up a lot during the life of a man named Faust' during the Late Middle Ages.

Anyway before i start runing on to much what about Hordriss ?

Oh Lilith, Reading what is said about her on this site she seems very poweful.. i don't remember her that much.. but being in level 1 doesn't quite match up...  which bring me back to my little ramble Lilith is also the name of a rarther devil/demon creature, some say she was Adams 1st wife lol, problem is there are to many different storys on this one.. u can just go on and on.. and so can i... lol

Well, I think you answer your own question when you say about needing someone to "replace" Merlin. With Lord Fear's arrival, there was also a greater tendency to lump the main characters into "The Powers That Be" and "The Opposition". There are some exceptions, of course, but it seemed to be the way things generally went.

I thought a lot of the best characters were those whose motives you couldn't be quite sure about. I liked the fact that teams would have to debate whether working with this character was the right thing to do. That was played out really well with Greystagg, and with a little more work could have been done better with Grimaldine too. Hordriss was especially interesting in this regard because of his obvious pride. I loved the early years when because of his questionable alignment he might prove a powerful ally, or a deadly foe- "doubly dangerous" in Treguard's words. This pride might make him changeable- you'd have to keep on your toes not to offend his dignity, even if you'd made a bargain with him, or he might turn nasty. Since he didn't have a firm allegiance his mood could change on a whim.

Having said that, I think he made a very good member of the Powers That Be. For a few more seasons he was still interesting in most of the ways mentioned above. As I always say, I think the real rot set in during Season 7, although there were a few signs of it beforehand. Here he really did just become a bit dull, a bit silly, a bit pathetic, and a bit unbelievable. Clifford Norgate still played him exceptionally well, but there was no mystery, and it was all too predictable. He too often became a pawn for the kidsies to rescue or prevent being duped: while some of the storylines were quite funny, some were lazy, in my humble opinion, and all a bit reminiscent of the Series 4 stocks incidents. The hidden power and disguised menace were all but gone, sadly. I have to say I was surprised to see him again in Series 8. I thought perhaps the production team felt they'd exhausted most of his possibilities. Thankfully he did come back, and (in my view) like so many things, was an improvement on his state in Series 7.

Well i guess we did have a Hordriss Vs lord fear sistuation which i guess could have led his to join with the powers of good.
Because i not see it for so long its hard to remember Hordriss being 'good'  But didn't he always give them their awards once they one? i remember him doing it once.
