I think I'd have it stop giving useful information after a while. They'd probably get the clue to move on when it tells them what Hordriss uses to create those fabulous red streaks in his hair.

Well... yes - there's always that -but couldnt you do that in loads of rooms? But that would just ruin the spirit of knightmare.
What they could do instead would be to not let the Oracle appear until they picked up the food etc etc - you get the idea
