New Xmas fanfic

Post by HStorm »

Merry Xmas/Yule/Chanukha/holiday season, everyone!

I've written a new Knightmare fanfic just for the occasion, and I've put it onsite on this very day for you all to read. It's called Lord Fear's Christmas Carol, and you can find it at...

I've read the start, HStorm, and I like it a lot. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to read one of your fanifcs. But I will read it right through.

I was wondering: should we at some point start a 'The Best Of Knightmare Fanfiction' thread, where we post extracts from our fanfics, so that people who've never read them before can see what they're missing? (I noticed that the first few people to post on the 'Knightmare Movie' thread have all written KM fanfics.) Because, as far as I'm concerned, the world needs more of three things:

More Knightmare
More Knightmare fanfiction
More chairs

And I've never yet read a Knightmare fanfic I didn't enjoy.

Thanks! And interesting idea about the "Best of Fanfic" thread. Maybe we could even set up a new forum for it.

I don't think a new forum would be necessary, as we have the Creative section in the KM Off-Topic Forum (http://qwaz.proboards22.com, feel free to visit and/or join!); it's just that this Forum has far more (potential) readers than the Off-Topic Forum.

I would certainly recommend the story. It's a lot of fun. The point in the story when you realise why it is called '...Christmas Carol' is uplifting! :)

There are some nice resonances of 'Blackadder's Christmas Carol' (my favourite episode). Were they intentional?

Yes, but as you say, your hero gets a starring role. You're biased.   ;D

You're right, Drass, the parallels with Blackadder were intentional, and I put in a couple of in-jokes in the dialogue  -  see if you can spot them  -  as a tribute to the key plot idea that Ebenezer B's story gave me.

While the plots do have similarities, they're certainly not the same. In fact you may notice stronger parallels with an episode of Quantum Leap -  especially the ghostly charade.

I wouldn't dream of stoppin' ya, Skarky. After all, you'd stick my noddler in a thumbscrew the moment I tried it! (And yes, it would fit with plenty of room to spare, alas.)

Ah, yes.  :) Nothing wrong with mixing Knightmare and Quantum Leap. Nothing at all.  ;)

Heh, you have to take that stance seeing what you're planning to write next. Looking forward to it though.

Thanks. With any luck, others are too. Anyone who's ever wondered what exactly 'Mrs. Scaramonger and all the little Scaramongers' are called, will be able to find out in my forthcoming fanfic. There are nine children...

Right little fly-by-night ain't he, that Scaramonger? It's the long hair and the rich clothes that get 'em going isn't it?

New KM story on fanfic.net

Post by HStorm »

The first episode of a new Knightmare fanfic by myself and Jen Kollic (alias "Elita" on here, and "Ursula" on the RP forum) is now online. It's set to be another trilogy when (if!) it's completed.

Go to http://www.fanfiction.net/~hstorm and click on Sorcerer Scurvy to see it.
