Re: 2012: Knightmare's 25th Anniversary
Kind of terrifying to reflect upon how old the show and most of us now are, but whoo, happy anniversary Knightmare! May I propose a toast to all those involved in bringing us this wonderful programme, still loved by so many!JamesA wrote:Well, the moment has finally come upon us:

Wish I could remember if I actually saw the first episode / series or not, but I was just so young, it's all a bit hazy now! Still have some great memories of being enthralled and scared silly by those early dungeon days, though... and the later ones.

I suggest that KM Chat this weekend should be heavily promoted on Facebook/Twitter etc - would be good to see a decent gathering for the anniversary!

I can definitely do something tomorrow to promote a special 25th anniversary edition of Knightmare chat this Sunday evening.Canadanne wrote:I suggest that KM Chat this weekend should be heavily promoted on Facebook/Twitter etc - would be good to see a decent gathering for the anniversary!
In the meantime, you may be interested in reading my 25 years of Knightmare article that has just been published on this website.

Happy quarter-century, everyone (oooo, now putting it like that *really* drums home the point...)!
I can promise, I certainly was watching the first episode on its original airing. I can no longer remember why I tuned into CITV that day - possibly just by chance - but the programme immediately before was just finishing (what was it? I can't rememb-aaaaaahhhh!!!) and the announcer said something about a new show starting up after the break. I decided, ah why not? Good excuse to put off doing homework for an extra half an hour.
Thank heaven for procrastination, eh?

That is a brilliant article; well done, James. It's been a pleasure knowing you through the well-established Knightmare Community.
Can't wait for the documentary - and I hope to see some of you in Chat on Sunday (if I get back from Leeds in time for Chat, that is - I hope I do, for obvious reasons!)

HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY KNIGHTMARE!!
25 Years, wow!
25 years of not looking back!
25 years of the only way being forward!
25 years of 'Treading The Path!'
25 years of arguably one of the greatest shows ever made (Children's or otherwise) enthralling us all to our cores!
I remember watching the first ever episode air on Children's ITV 25 years ago today and I was transfixed!
It was a week before my 6th Birthday and I had never seen anything like it!
As each episode passed I felt sad it was over, and the wait between episodes was a long one.
The wait between series seemed like a lifetime, but they were glorious, all 8 of them!
I applied, like many did for series 9, only to be told that Knightmare was no longer commissioned!
That was a sad day.
Still, I had my tapes, books and Board Games dull the pain as it were!
Now as someone about to turn 31, the feelings are just the same!
Knightmare is still one of the best ever shows to air, and I love it just as much today as that 6 year old did back in 1987!
So Thank You.
Thank You Tim Child for your amazing vision!
Thank You to the crew for making it all happen!
Thank You to the cast for bringing the characters to life in such an amazing way!
Thank You of course to the teams of Dungeoneers and their Advisers!
Thank You all for producing something that went far beyond being a mere television show!
