1991 Knightmare article

Post by Drassil »

I've just made scans of a feature article from an old computer magazine, 'The One (for ST Games)', Issue 35, August 1991; the article, 'Recurring Knightmare', is partly about the Knightmare computer game, and partly about Series 5 and its innovations.

Although the article is a double-page spread, I've had to scan it as two single pages. The quality is not fantastic, but certainly ranks as 'better than nothing'.  :)

Hopefully the scans can be incorporated into knightmare.com at some point; but in the meantime, here are links to the pages of the article. Enjoy.

Tsk. I bought some old magazines last year, but it was The One (For Amiga Games). because I owned an Amiga.

I do have a review of that game though, as well as an advert for it. Splendidly designed....was the advert. The game was too tough and not especially brilliant. Contained a tree that looked like Oakley and goblins that still wouldn't be bought off with a present.

The advert basically showed a lovely looking FrightKnight with some adventure-like text, along the lines of 'Step boldly forwards...'.

There wasn't even a Corridor of blades in the game. :(

Forgive me for being picky BUT....

THOSE GOBLAINS IN THIS GAME LOOK MORE LIKE GNOMES THEN GOBLAINS.

HAVE YOU SEEN THOSE POINTED HATS.

AND I SHOULD KNOW A THING OR TWO ABOUT GOBLAINS.

I MEAN JUST WHEN DID MY JOB CHANGE TO BEING

                      MASTER OF THE GNOMES
It's The Irons For You. LOVELY

They still kicked the crud out of any player though. In this came sometimes you had to take the path of aggression, and that meant killing goblins. And lots of them.

Well, I've emailed Illusion, and it looks like the article will indeed be joining the fine pages of knightmare.com in a future update.  :) As Illusion pointed out, contemporary reviews of and views on Knightmare can be particularly interesting.

Yeah, pity about the fanfics, the songs, the roleplaying, the artwork, the forums...  ;)

OK. Before this goes too far, let me make clear that I was only being sarcastic!  :) My point was that there is plenty that can be contributed on the creative side, without feeling that you are falling short in other areas.  :)

I was joking, Drass! As in, you tease Emii about most of her material, and I make an impassioned defence, but only of one aspect of... >SIGH!< Never mind.   ::)

No, no, it's OK.  :) I just didn't want any crossed wires leading to cross words, so I thought I'd clarify my original point on this occasion. That's all.  :)
