Re:Series 1 - Episode 8
Either it is very good editing, or the team just knew they HAD to die! Seems a fair death after all.
I too think it would have lead on to a bomb room, and awful lot of the dead end/left hand doors tended to!
It is a good episode to end the seaosn on, however, and a lot of the episodes aspects tie in with developments for S2.

Re:Series 1 - Episode 8
I think this was the ep,
there was a moment in one of the rooms where a voice said, opining locked door becomes boring, or something like that.... now it didn't sound like Casper.. he seemed quite happy to open it, the other door was a fire exit.
unless it was Mogdred trying to fool the team in taking the fire exit door???
Anyone notice the steam/smoke coming out of the well?
i guess thats what the bell was used for,

Can't someone ask Tim Child about what would have happened. Surely he would know. How can someone ask him?

Re:Series 1 - Episode 8
I think he was asked what a winning team in series 1 and 3 would have looked like. It's all available from the www.knightmare.com front page in the interview done by Kieran.
Subject to change.

Yup he was asked during that interview, surprised he has a good memory of that far back for rooms that were never used.

Re:Series 1 - Episode 8
This was the best ep in the series!
Maybe they should have used the opposite spell on the door - the word would have turned round and lead them to Merlin...
Just a thought!

Weird. I never realised that the team didn't use their spell.
Heh. Hooray for in-depth episode discussion.

Re:Series 1 - Episode 8
I'm more inclined to argue that there was too much material for the time slot and that some of it had to go. I mean it's only a 25min programme, it's not going to cover everything.Porsmond wrote:This is a plausible theory because when watching Team 4, they did encounted quite a few rooms in Level 2, and there was probably more to come if they had got past the room with Folley and his riddle. However for this last team after Cedric, there was only The Spear Room,The Clue Room,The Key room for Casper,The Merlin Room, and The Level 3 Well so only 5 rooms which seems oddly short for Level 2, So YES if there was rooms cut out of the quest, there was obviously one where the team used the Bell, and one where they used the Shield Spell too????My suspicion is that several rooms in level 2 were left out of the final edit to fit the quest inside the season time limit.
If these edits were made, then I have one word(WHY) Maybe the production team thought there was a risk the team might not quite reach level 3, and maybe they thought it would be good for the viewers to at least see what level 3 would have looked like in Series 1 even if the team didnt complete their quest????
And of course it will not be limited to this particular quest/episode either. You might have 16 episodes to play with in the series but you can't show everything that went on as it'd be considerably boring for one thing, watching tedious whisperings with sod all else going on plus you'd only see about 2 teams a series.

Re:Series 1 - Episode 8
Clearly alot of editing took place, lso the Merlin/Nilrem door may have taken the team to Mogdred, as on the Series 1 credits Merlin and Mogdred are listed, yet Mogdred is never seen in the aired version of series 1

Re:Series 1 - Episode 8
Hmm, indeed. We know that rooms and scenes were filmed 'posthumously' and inserted into quests. It most likely works the other way around, too - scenes and rooms that have been cut out. That'd be a fascinating reel to watch.

Assuming said reels haven't been destroyed by now, in light of the fact it'd have no use anywhere at all and that the idea of "Extras" on DVDs and stuff was still 15 years off.Malefact wrote: Hmm, indeed.
