Domain Name?
In my opinion, this forum needs a seperate domain name. forums.knightmare.com would be alright, as long as you can afford the hosting.
If people don't like this, just have the current link redirect to the new one.

Re:Domain Name?
Well, it's an idea but I don't suppose it matters much, I never noticed the domain name. Still, it's still the same forum but I think I see what you're getting at.

Re:Domain Name?
Yeah, from September 2003 to sometime this year (anyone know?).
I don't see why a seperate domain name is needed, really. www.knightmare.com/forum is easy to remember.

Will be September 2004, domains are a two-year contract.

Re:Domain Name?
It's certainly possible to set up forum.knightmare.com or similar, and I did consider it, but as others have said, www.knightmare.com/forum is probably easier to remember and most URLs are in that format.

Re:Domain Name?
No major thing, but, out of interest, why was talkknightmare.co.uk dropped? I think it was all right and it seemed an unnecessary change to me.

Re:Domain Name?
It depends on who you register your domain with. Domain names can be registered from 1 to 10 years. Generally the options are 1, 2, or 10 years. It would appear though that many insists on a minimum of 2 years for UK domains, though it is possible to register for just a year.Pooka wrote: Will be September 2004, domains are a two-year contract.

Re:Domain Name?
The forum used to be on a separate host to the main site, hence the separate domain. Now everthing is under one roof so it wasn't necessary anymore.Joe Grocott-James wrote: No major thing, but, out of interest, why was talkknightmare.co.uk dropped? Re:Domain Name?
That's just a subdomain of knightmare.com. Doesn't cost anything, would just point to knightmare.com/forum, thus going to the same place.Devanté wrote: In my opinion, this forum needs a seperate domain name. forums.knightmare.com would be alright, as long as you can afford the hosting.
Having forum.knightmare.com wouldn't be too bad, but why would Illusion move the forums to a seperate host with a seperate domain?

Some hosts charge more for allowing subdomains.

Re:Domain Name?
Yes, but it's usually only a small charge.
I don't really see why Knightmare.com would benefit from one anyway, TBH. It's fine as it is.

Re:Domain Name?
Subdomains can be created, no problem. But as others have said it won't make things any easier so I don't think there's much point doing it.
I think people are much more familiar with the www.knightmare.com/forum format of address than forum.knightmare.com.
