Characters From The Books...
Hi There
I was flicking through my books not so long ago, and I was thinking that it would have been cool to have a few more characters from the books incorporated into the show.
I think maybe Anna (Can You Beat The Challenge) could have been a good assistant.
Also, wouldn't it have been good to see Rupert of Armitage (Labyrinths Of Fear, The Sorcerers Isle) as an evil character....
What does everyone think?

Anna was a mermaid, wasn't she?
I would have enjoyed seeing Arawn, from Labyrinths Of Fear, on the show. As a fellow Knightmare fan pointed out to me recently, an evil elf on Knightmare would be a striking departure from the norm. He could confront the team with riddling contests of increasing difficulty as they move deeper into the Dungeon.

Hi Drassil.
That's right, Treguard rescues her from the fellow that parades her aound in a cage as a freak show attraction.
Arawn? Never thought of that.
That would have probably been quite cool...

Even though the Gruagach was destroyed, I'd have liked to see remnants of his forces still haunt the Dungeon, maybe his haunting face here and there...
Also, Gobble? Maybe as a playmate for Festus? Oo-er...

I don't think Anna was a mermaid... She was just acting or something...

Good point!
Anna wasn't a mermaid! She was no more mermaid than Treguard.
He did rescue her though, as she was kept against her will by a Drylander!

Perhaps also Elshander (invisible kleptomaniac dwarf) and Sister Lucienne (vampire-slaying nun), from Fortress Of Assassins' story section and gamebook section respectively.

Good thread this. I would have had Elshander as a neutral character in there. Out of the bad guys, I would agree with those who put Arawn in their lists, I especially agree with Drassil's suggestion that the dungeoneer would endure a battle of wits with the evil elf king. Also, how about the satanic, Keith Richards inspired Seigneur des Mouches? He would be certainly be an interesting final foe to encounter!

The prose-dabbling elements of the Audio Group have talked about bringing some of the characters from the books into their stories, so there's a distinct possibility you'll be seeing more of them in the future. That Gruagach fellow, for example, has all the makings of a rather mighty Big Bad...

i had the books but shockingly never read the stories!!! i used to be a huge fan of the games in the back and (along with the old fighting fantasy books) would spend hours "being" the adventurer.

BUT...
When you made a decision, did you hold your place in the book before reading on?

Didn't everyone? That's what fingers are for, adventure gamebooks, right?

I didn't always use fingers: sometimes I'd repeat passage numbers in my head until I was able to check them. Here's a reassuring verdict on the matter:
'Like I said elsewhere, if people want to cheat in a solo game, who are they hurting after all?'
Reassuring because it comes from Dave Morris himself!
