Gumboil

By Keith McDonald

Gumboil the 'Orrid was a clumsy and gullible guard with a weakness for alcohol.

This regulation guard of the early series was usually dressed in armour or a tunic and carried a large sword. He is made distinctive by the large boil on his cheek.

Gumboil might guard wellways or vales. Teams required a password or bribe to pass him, or magic if they had neither.

One team meets him twice and uses magic against him both times.

Gumboil is offensive! Gumboil is... offensive?

Folly the Jester tricks Gumboil into accepting a 'Sorceror's Stone' - an object that was only visible to the cleverest people.

Casper the Key gets one dungeoneer into trouble with Gumboil after muttering insults about him. Gumboil demands gold as an apology.
