The Oracle of Confusion

By Keith McDonald

The Oracle of Confusion was a mystical presence that delivered a mixture of useful and irrelevant knowledge.

The Oracle was an iridescent spirit that took the form of a female face in the Level 2 clue room.

It spoke continuously but could not be heard until dungeoneers lifted the Helmet of Justice slightly above their heads.

To hear it speak, shut your eyes tightly, and raise the helmet slightly above your head.

Treguard

The Oracle of Confusion, as seen in Series 3 of Knightmare (1989).

The Oracle offered knowledge but without order or cohesion. Teams had to listen carefully and work out what might be useful for their own quest.

Advice might include directions or one of the steps required to cross the pit to Merlin's throne.

When the Oracle's sayings became repetitive, Treguard advised the dungeoneer to replace the helmet and the Oracle's words became silent again.
