I was quite startled and saddened by the enormous backlash against Jodie's first season, as I thought it was the deepest breath of fresh air the series had had in years. In particular, everything was new. There was no recycling of tired old monsters that had been used a zillion times in the past, almost no gratuitous backward referencing, and plenty of new enemies and guest characters. Yeeeesssss, that's exactly what I felt. Really enjoyed that first series; shame it all went wrong after that. (Disagree about the companions, though - I love the show most with a full TARDIS crew!) And then, they brought bloody TENNANT back! I'm so glad I'm not the only person who had that reaction...

I did - thanks to some lucky dice rolls! Yes, I tried several routes. I did wonder whether some of the choice options were deliberate traps (like in the first KM book where it tries to catch you out with "turn to page x to use [item you can't possibly have picked up]") but they all seemed legitimate! Still can't find the MOUSE spell though. I hope you continue with level 2 and 3! Thanks for the feedback! Oh yes - there was one where you're invited to use a pair of sunglasses to see in a room with a... sun lion, I think? Sorceress Orphia gives you the MOUSE spell under some conditions

Thanks for the feedback! I'll go through those typos and bugs the next time I'm working on it. The hidden path is either directly down from the exit door or directly left of the platform, depending on which route you take. Granitas and Olgarth will give you clues. Talking to the Jester is a bit fiddly. You can only talk to him when he isn't moving, so just walk towards him and keep tapping the interact button. He'll give you a riddle to help pick the correct exit. Sprinting past the Scorpion is meant to be very hard. You'll need to buy the REDUCE spell from Scaramonger and see what happens when you cast it in that room... If you went past 'Velda', then you've surprised me by reaching level 2 via the 'hard' route. The main route to level 2 is meant to be via Smirkenorff and there are something like five ways to convince him to carry you, depending on what you did during level 1 and what items you have. Out of curiousity, how much of the Ramohna storyline have you found, and have you found the catacombite yet?

In Back to the Future II-III, Michael J. Fox plays four characters including two genders, two nationalities and a spouse. In Knightmare Series 2-3, Tom Karol does the same.

I was amused to see that in the clue room, when Oliver says "You're in a room", Alan appears to mouth along I probably said it and my microphone was off. We had to nominate a describer (Oliver) and a main guider (me). I assume that our microphones were adjusted in anticipation of these roles and therefore mine was off at the room description stage. As you'll appreciate, this didn't even last one room and within two or three rooms it became a free for all. Alan, I like to imagine you were thinking: Don't say it, don't say it... sigh he's saying it. Or have I got it all wrong? It's a funny thing the phrase "you're in a room". At the time I don't remember it being as iconic as "Where am I?", which I vaguely seem to recall (although I may be misremembering) Dunstan was supposed to say. I think "You're in a room" is just the natural response. Perhaps that's why it's become so well known. It's meaningless, non-forced, and yet a perfectly likely thing for someone to say in that situation. So no, I'm pretty sure I wasn't thinking that at the time

And now for something completely different... if anyone is familiar with Adventure Time in The Eye Shield fanzine, this is just a silly prequel to it! http://www.canadanne.co.uk/writing/km_lady/ (It's unfortunately not consistent with the second season of Adventure Time - I had the original idea before I'd read all of TES - but maybe you can imagine it as a reboot / alternate timeline. There were some continuity issues whenever new authors took over anyway.)

To answer Beltane's question: What's DJR 87?? I noticed while writing the story that it bizarrely had a bunch of unintended similarities to The Wizard of Oz, and decided it would be fitting if the path to the Emerald Greenwood actually resembled a yellow brick road. The corridor is therefore based on the 'bland room' that was used for many things in the original Knightmare dungeon, and the graffiti is a nod to it being created by David Rowe for the 1987 series, as if he had signed it. Oh, I get it now! Thanks!
