That's my violent side coming back out after many years. I've just been to take another look at that scene in the Smirky vestibule, and Nat certainly seems to get into a proper worry after Treguard's comment. He checks his notes too, to see if they do have anything they could possibly give him for the ride, but of course they don't. Smirky just admires Ben's "natural skill", I guess. There's an uninformed comment on YouTube that says something like "well, there ARE free Smirky rides in other episodes, you know!", i.e. claiming there's nothing suspect or unusual about this situation. However, this really is unique as the only time Smirky gives a totally free ride BETWEEN LEVELS without some form of incentive, be it a physical fare, a set of questions answered correctly with Brother Mace, a token presented to the Gatemaster, a piece of flattery, a warning about the Brollachan, or a direct instruction from Elita or Romahna.

In my experience with editing Notmare, I have always been amazed by how painfully obvious these things are when you know the correction is there but nobody else notices them. There are one or two with geek week as well where I know there was a bit of a funny and the editing has mostly (but not entirely) covered it up.

After a long delay, the latest 'American Reacts to Knightmare' video is finally up, covering the next 3 episodes of Series 5.

I'll see if I can dig that specific one out. We're putting together longer term plans for the scripts.

Not sure if you mean the original TV series that started in 1987 and lasted regrettably only 6 or 7 years thereafter or the entire franchise as a whole. I'd like to think it applies to all things Knightmare and Tim Child's idea and production to make it a reality that continues to this day. It's such a shame the series not only didn't survive beyond the early / mid 1990's and that a DVD collection release never seemed obtainable. We've had spin offs and online parodies that while fun and offer a certain intrigue, just can't match the enthralment or experience of the original series. Maybe it's down to age perspective as things just aren't the same as you remember them but for what's it worth I take the opportunity to offer and provide all things Knightmare a sincere anniversary mention. Surely there's an event planned for next year to mark the 40 year turning. Hugo Myatt and all surviving cast members hopefully get together and provide something like a fan access day. It sounds plausible but not sure how far they'll actually get with it.

The final instalment of the audio drama series The Dunshelm Players began way back in 2006 was expected to be made and released some years ago, and an early draft of the script, working title 'Tech-Topia,' was written in 2018-19. But we ended up leaving it in limbo due to a general lack of audience. Back at Christmas 2025, you may remember, we released a one-off play called All Must Surely Be An Illusion to test to see whether there was a renewed appetite for the audios. Sadly, after eight months, the play has still had well under 100 views on YouTube. The audience simply isn't there to the extent that it is worth the considerable effort required to make Tech-Topia. With this in mind, we have now officially abandoned all plans to record the play. Apologies to anyone who was hoping to hear it eventually. I am aware though that some of our listeners would still like to know what happened after the end of the Techno-Colour Tales. Therefore, the draft script mentioned above is now available to read from our website. You can see it at https://dunshelmplayers.wordpress.com/dramas/tech-topia-script-only/ As this was an early draft, it is not necessarily how the story would have finally played out. But we'll never know the final form it would have taken, and for anyone who wants to know what happens next, this is about the nearest you are going to get. Please note that we may still make some smaller projects in the future. But the really big plays are a thing of the past.

I finally hit level 40. It doesn't seem real. I haven't done/changed much in the last decade, still wear the same clothes, still have the same hobbies, etc. Still waiting for life to start so I can do all of the things I wanted to do 'when I was a grown up'. So don't feel as though I've earned the right to be 40 yet. It's very surreal! Started in this forum when I was all but 16 back in 2003. I'll be 40 next year and it's been such a fun ride in the Knightmare community. From college projects, to starting a family, Knightmare will always be a special part of my life

The book I've been reading cited the work of a cognitive psychologist called Chaz Firestone. I wonder if Tim Child knew anyone with that surname!

Has anyone ever reached out to the actress and psychotherapist Eleanor Tremain who was an advisor in the Knightmare pilot? I wonder if she has any memories of it.

Hi Helga and welcome to the forum. Thanks for sharing your memories and appreciation of Ron Lyon. His frightknight sculptures and trophies were a unique creative contribution to Knightmare. I hope your quest for more of Ron's sculptures is successful!
