Series 8 Level 3 - Linghorm through the eyeshield

Linghorm

By Keith McDonald

The first of Lord Fear's palaces in Level 3 of the final series.

This stylish brick environment was the first of Lord Fear's palaces in Series 8. It even drew admiration from Treguard and Majida.

Teams had to pass through Linghorm and board the Golden Galleon to reach Marblehead. It was heavily guarded by skeletrons, miremen, and miretrogs.

The main thoroughfare was a corridor of blue and gold. A junction patrolled by skeletrons and miremen led to the Level 3 clue room.

A guard post offered the opportunity to meet a trader or the sorceress, Maldame. From there, teams either found the jetty or boarded the ship directly.

Battle for dominion

The Tower of Linghorm became a pawn in a season-long battle between Lord Fear and Maldame.

Unwittingly aided by dungeoneers, the wily sorceress managed to gain access to Linghorm and occupy the palace, before setting her sights on Marblehead.

Maldame, the 'Iron Maiden', was played by Iona Kennedy in Series 8 of Knightmare (1994).

Towards the end of the season, Fear sent a red dragon to burn down Linghorm, hoping to destroy her.

However, the tower was still intact for the final quest, which was terminated in Linghorm after time ran out.

This is incredible... magnificent!
