Knightmare Convention

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

Anybody else enjoying the Lego Knightmare episodes, by the way? I hope they make more of them soon! An online convention is an interesting idea. We've seen from Paul Flannery's Twitch channel that Knightmare cast members and contestants are up for online interviews. From what I saw, the audiences were appreciative but not huge. Also, I don't know what Paul's costs were and whether his attendees' voluntary donations (Ko-fi) covered those costs. My concern is always the ratio of fans saying "This should happen" to fans saying "I'm willing to commit time and money to help this happen". To elaborate on the crowdfunding point: 'The Knightmare community' is a vague concept that could mean anything from Knightmare.com forum regulars to anybody who likes, shares or posts about Knightmare online. This vagueness means that what most people are waiting for is somebody else to take an active role. You may not be aware of the difficulty we had funding the Knightmare convention four years ago. We only needed to raise slightly over £12,000. Despite offering a unique experience and reaching thousands of potential crowdfunding donors on social media, only 280 donated to the campaign. These included some extremely generous four-figure donations, without which the convention could not have gone ahead. Arguably the nostalgia bubble has burst, or at least shrunk. The Crystal Maze Experience crowdfunding campaign did well but the Fun House Live campaign raised only 9% of its goal last year. Knightmare Live's 2013 crowdfunding campaign beat its goal of £6000; its 2016 campaign, despite three years of good reviews and a lower goal, raised £2807. The 'slacktive' interest in Knightmare DVDs will continue to exist. The active interest - people willing to put their hand in their pocket rather than their thumb on a Facebook post - is not enough to raise the sum we'd need.

Oh that's lovely! These b&w photos seem totally out of character for the TV show, but wonderfully vintage in style. 6 children has got to be a time filler for sure!

A response was e-mailed on 21st May at 11:!8. Admittedly several days had passed from your original e-mail but I opted to getting the pictures uploaded and order system in place before replying as any reply I sent was useless prior to that point. Thank you for your purchase - I just don't want the false impression to be given that I never replied to e-mails.

Looking back... I just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words that the staff and I have received regarding the Knightmare Convention. Many of you will be aware just how busy things have been in the preceding months and it's gratifying to know that so many of you had a good time. Not that things are all over for us. We still have a fair amount of work still left to do (the DVD for example). But hopefully that's all more-or-less in hand now. Looking forwards I've also received a lot of emails regarding a next Knightmare Convention. We have done our best to keep this option open. However, there are a lot of IFs and BUTs to consider, not least of which is money. Furthermore, since the convention is and was always intended to be "for the fans", we want to make sure that we aren't just running another convention for the sake of it, but are running something that actually provides a new experience for people that attended this year. Before we can consider any of that, we all want to take a step back so that we can look at things objectively. I have also received numerous requests from people to staff a next convention... My first priority will always be to select people that are active in the Knightmare Community. People that show up at the 11th hour are unlikely to be selected.

Change of plan for me as i'll be coming up to see KM Live. Phoned the ticket office today and was told to just turn up on the night. Wont finish work till about 6 and it's about an hours drive so I should just make it in time. Does anyone know when the live show finishes? (I hope I don't fall sleep during the thing)

As Drassil stated in the first post of this thread, its still possible to go if you don't mind missing a small part of the convention. Also an ideal opportunity to say that you've visited a location that was used as a backdrop in Knightmare if you previously hadn't done so before!

I cannot guarantee how the venue will react, so to cover ourselves, I should really say "bring a physical printout of the email". But I know as well as you do that a reasonable person would consider showing it on your phone to be sufficient.

Just a query/suggestion really; will there be a chance to pre-book signings/photographs in advance? Probably not. It would be too much grief. Also, would there be an opportunity to 'block book' a number of guests at a discount if done in advance? Probably not. Again, too much admin.

Definitely can't make it. I can't get time off work before or after the weekend, and it's just too complicated arranging a journey to Norwich with ONLY the weekend itself available. I could only make it work by not slotting in sleep, and that's just not an option. Furthermore, family members are meeting up for a birthday down south that weekend, and my mum wants to attend, and she needs me to babysit her cat. Just not feasible, I'm afraid, I shall have to sit the convention out. Sorry.

Evidently the convention should have been organised while most of us still had a Young Person's Railcard. Wishing everyone safe journeys. Quite! Or two people bought a 'Two Together' railcard for the journey!

lol, the way I looked at it is there is only one KM convention, there are however other opportunities to find gold bars. But remember, if you find a gold bar make sure you don't take the horn instead, even if you're being chased by a giant spider. Especially after looking through the spyglass at a certain person pleading poverty
