The final instalment of the audio drama series The Dunshelm Players began way back in 2006 was expected to be made and released some years ago, and an early draft of the script, working title 'Tech-Topia,' was written in 2018-19. But we ended up leaving it in limbo due to a general lack of audience. Back at Christmas 2025, you may remember, we released a one-off play called All Must Surely Be An Illusion to test to see whether there was a renewed appetite for the audios. Sadly, after eight months, the play has still had well under 100 views on YouTube. The audience simply isn't there to the extent that it is worth the considerable effort required to make Tech-Topia. With this in mind, we have now officially abandoned all plans to record the play. Apologies to anyone who was hoping to hear it eventually. I am aware though that some of our listeners would still like to know what happened after the end of the Techno-Colour Tales. Therefore, the draft script mentioned above is now available to read from our website. You can see it at https://dunshelmplayers.wordpress.com/dramas/tech-topia-script-only/ As this was an early draft, it is not necessarily how the story would have finally played out. But we'll never know the final form it would have taken, and for anyone who wants to know what happens next, this is about the nearest you are going to get. Please note that we may still make some smaller projects in the future. But the really big plays are a thing of the past.

I've spent a good part of today chatting to Gary Napper. He's probably best known nowadays as the production designer on the videogame Alien: Isolation, but a little over 20 years ago he was a member of a group of lads who called themselves Freshlove Productions. Expect an episode on the Knightmare spoof "Bad Dreem" soon My partner who lives in America once casually said "Ewar Woowar" and halted me in my tracks. He only had passing knowledge of Knightmare at the time so how he even found Bad Dreem, I have no idea

This looks amazing! I just found your YouTube channel with the game videos. Are there any plans to return to it in the future? Or make it open source perhaps (so other developers can add to it)?

I just saw this (years too late)! I'm a game developer and wondered if you'd be willing to open source this project? Or team up and build a version for modern VR (or anyone else wanting to build something)? I primarily work in Unreal Engine on 3D games, as blueprints can handle most of the complex logic (I trained as an artist before jumping into level design, then development, and still prefer the visual method). I loved Knightmare as a kid and have waited (unsuccessfully) for it to be rebooted since the 90s! A VR game would work even with Knightmare newbies (I've shown the TV show to my young relatives and they loved it). You don't need to have seen the original to understand the concept of wandering alone through a dark and mysterious dungeon and solving puzzles.

I had cause to go back through an archive recently for somebody else and it has since occurred to me I may still have the fiction that was published on NKTP, which looking at the list posted was mine, Andrew Buckley's and a handful of Pooka/Ben Maydon files, though I notice Ben's stuff seems to have been repackaged and republished on his own website. As I'm not in contact with Andrew Buckley and haven't been since, well since NKTP was a thing I think as his work was published primarily (but not exclusively) on/for my site, I can make the call on his behalf to repackage that content rather than have everybody suffering looking at broken web pages through the Wayback Machine. As Mr Buckley was the original author he'll retain the copyright obviously and dibs on whether he wants them on show or not. I'll see what I can find.

I've found a few mixes of this on my HD. Notably I have the "Princess Sparkle" Remix (in addition to the original mix), but I'm loath to share it without permission from BAF or Princess Sparkle herself. I may post it somewhere if there is sufficient interest. I also have a janky version of TFTF which I performed live. There are plenty of remixes, but I'm fairly certain I may be the only person to ever attempt a cover! Here is the MP3, although the quality isn't great.

Fantastic! They'd make great bookends. I've actually made full dragon statue bookends before but they were for Dragonriders of Pern, which has much simpler dragons. Pern_bookends.jpg Doing something like that for Smirkenorff would be an awful lot of work and I'm busy with other projects at the moment. Some of which are Knightmare related. This has reminded me I never posted a picture of my paint colour test. Smirk_paint_test.jpg [image: Pern_bookends.jpg] [image: Smirk_paint_test.jpg]

Those look absolutely gorgeous. Scaled up they could easily pass for the genuine article. I gave these ones away, so I need to make more for myself. I'll do that as a larger version when the weather warms up, so it's easier to run my printers. It would be fun to offer some to the dungeoneers at Knightmare live if they do the game expo in Birmingham again.

You're welcome to post my prop picks on the main site if you wish. The photos aren't exactly arty, more just a means to an end but I'd be glad to contribute.

I've got an etsy acquaintance working on a Season 7 Arkenstone. I'll let you know how it goes and post a link to his shop when the time comes. N.B. I know that I haven't been a very active member of th3 community but I always feel welcome here and will endeavour to contribute more often. Otherwise a really good user name is just going to waste lol.

Interesting, but I don't think gamebook technology has really moved on in the last few decades. Aside from supplying some props that allow interaction with the book (e.g. to reveal words in a word jumble) and generally "writing well", I don't know what scope there would be for improvement.

Im working on a new Knightmare Gamebook project that I plan to may turn to an app or into a book, but im having trouble coming up with a combat system that works, any suggestions. Im trying to keep in tone freindly to the original books but at the same time suitable for a more modern reader. The "combat" they have in the books is very simple and not sure if it would stand up today

Hi everyone! I'm very excited to tell you that Temporal Discussion have recently been in contact with Dave Morris, author of all seven official Knightmare game books. He's very graciously agreed to an interview, so we're opening it up to the forum to find out what questions you have. This is a really exciting opportunity for our listeners to get involved with the podcast, and your forum name will be read out with your question (unless you request otherwise)
