I did - thanks to some lucky dice rolls! Yes, I tried several routes. I did wonder whether some of the choice options were deliberate traps (like in the first KM book where it tries to catch you out with "turn to page x to use [item you can't possibly have picked up]") but they all seemed legitimate! Still can't find the MOUSE spell though. I hope you continue with level 2 and 3! Thanks for the feedback! Oh yes - there was one where you're invited to use a pair of sunglasses to see in a room with a... sun lion, I think? Sorceress Orphia gives you the MOUSE spell under some conditions

Thanks for the feedback! I'll go through those typos and bugs the next time I'm working on it. The hidden path is either directly down from the exit door or directly left of the platform, depending on which route you take. Granitas and Olgarth will give you clues. Talking to the Jester is a bit fiddly. You can only talk to him when he isn't moving, so just walk towards him and keep tapping the interact button. He'll give you a riddle to help pick the correct exit. Sprinting past the Scorpion is meant to be very hard. You'll need to buy the REDUCE spell from Scaramonger and see what happens when you cast it in that room... If you went past 'Velda', then you've surprised me by reaching level 2 via the 'hard' route. The main route to level 2 is meant to be via Smirkenorff and there are something like five ways to convince him to carry you, depending on what you did during level 1 and what items you have. Out of curiousity, how much of the Ramohna storyline have you found, and have you found the catacombite yet?

And now for something completely different... if anyone is familiar with Adventure Time in The Eye Shield fanzine, this is just a silly prequel to it! http://www.canadanne.co.uk/writing/km_lady/ (It's unfortunately not consistent with the second season of Adventure Time - I had the original idea before I'd read all of TES - but maybe you can imagine it as a reboot / alternate timeline. There were some continuity issues whenever new authors took over anyway.)

To answer Beltane's question: What's DJR 87?? I noticed while writing the story that it bizarrely had a bunch of unintended similarities to The Wizard of Oz, and decided it would be fitting if the path to the Emerald Greenwood actually resembled a yellow brick road. The corridor is therefore based on the 'bland room' that was used for many things in the original Knightmare dungeon, and the graffiti is a nod to it being created by David Rowe for the 1987 series, as if he had signed it. Oh, I get it now! Thanks!

I retitled this topic from 'Reminiscing' to something more specific and moved it from General Discussion to Fan Creations. A nice surprise to see that video from Michael Spicer this week. Not a total surprise though, because in 2016 he tweeted: 'In the kids' show Knightmare, the countdown clock was an image of flesh falling away from a knight's face and all of us were okay with that.' Thanks to Michael's video going viral on various social media platforms, a lot of people have discovered Knightmare. If any of them are reading this, hello!

Wow! Thank you for all the responses! Just another nudge about this to anyone still thinking about it. We’re just about to start figuring out a date, so it’s not too late.

In The Quest For The Dragons Egg (a.k.a. the gamebook section of The Forbidden Gate, the fifth Knightmare book), Motley recites a rhyme about islanders with 'xanthous gaze' or 'eyes of virid hue' who the player may encounter later on. You have written in the Interactive Knightmare Lexicon about other aspects of this gamebook, so perhaps you had 'virid hue' in your head without realising. Oh yeaahhh, I remember that now you mention it. The word choice in the fanfic really was coincidental (I considered a whole bunch of synonyms before settling on "virid"), but that's probably why it sounded so right to me!

Hi all! Due to the closure of Webs, I have made a new website for the Knightmare Audio Series. The new link is https://knightmareaudioseries.weebly.com/ and you can also find us on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/KnightmareAudio. Would someone with access be able to update the Knightmare Lexicon entry to the new address please? http://interactive.knightmare.org.uk/component/legacy/page/display/lexicon?s=view&EID=Knightmare%20Audio%20Series

For the thirteenth time in a row, I'm taking part in FAWM, a community music project in which the aim is to write 14 songs in 28 days. I'm currently at song number 7, so halfway through. I'm doing short songs this year, so all less than a minute. My most recent song is about Richard from Series 8! You can give it a listen for free on my FAWM page and see if it gives you a laugh!

Taking up a tangent from David's recent post: I've also been wondering about the logistics of holding a quest at a convention or something - with careful selection of rooms, it seems the logistics of it wouldn't be impossible to recreate using a home setup these days... We know of various conventions etc which have had playable Knightmare recreations: Q-Con XIII and XIV (2006, 2007). These conventions, hosted by the Queen's University of Belfast Gaming Society, included Qnightmare. Michael Cule (Brother Mace) was involved. Details in this thread; search for Qnightmare on YouTube for video clips. Knightmare Convention (2014). While we limited ourselves to the Corridor of Blades - which allowed more people to have a go than if we'd attempted full quests - we did have a Knightmare Live show beforehand on the Friday. Knightmare Live's done a few other conventions as well. Lazlar Lyricon 3 (2017). A Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy convention. Like Knightmare Live, this was done in a physical setting. David Learner (Pickle) and Michael Cule, guests at the convention, were involved. IDW Con a.k.a. The Irish Discworld Convention (2019). Information about this seems to be scarce, other than the programme and a recent tweet. Dungeonjarg (2020). As posted about on the website last year. Rather than using chromakey for the quest, it appears they used physical locations and then switched to augmented reality.

I really rather enjoyed listening to it. FFR was a well written and carefully crafted audio book, the pacing is good and the characters are well portrayed. I loved it back then and I still love it even now

There were at least two of the original one, because we saw them both simultaneously as you mention. There were also at least two of the newer helmet - I have one and Tim has one. I believe that one of them was a modification of the other in order to support the VR headpiece. However, I suspect there are more than that.

Hey, sorry for going silent again for a while. I ended up getting an extension on my dissertation due to me having to move home, but I managed to finish it, just waiting on the results now As for this campaign, I have ideas buzzing. Need to focus on the test one-shot first, but for the main game, I have new characters planned, I have old characters planned - and a dream I had last night really inspired me to get back into planning more stuff. So if there are any more updates, I'll keep you all informed!

Really glad you enjoyed the video. I wanted to do it since before I was even part of the BCC As for a follow-up video, at the moment I'm afraid it's unlikely to happen as I am currently directing my attention away from the YouTube channel and into other projects. However, one of those projects is a Knightmare retrospective podcast (more details in this thread: https://www.knightmare.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=7129). It's likely anything we would've covered in a second video will be picked up in the podcast
