Thanks everyone for all your title ideas.......... We had a few great ideas...... Was hoping to come back to a couple more but never mind...... All title ideas have now been put into the hat....... Now to draw the title name from the hat........ No point in waiting ...... Let's GO.......... [Nods to Motley..... Motley starts playing the drums....... I glare at him.......] Do the drumroll. [I tell him...... Motley starts doing a drumroll......... I shake the hat to mix the envelopes up..] These blank white envelopes have been sealed before being put into the hat............ Each envelope has one title idea written on a card in it.......... The title ideas in the hat so far are Saving Pickle's Skin Double Trouble Pickle knows his Onions Pickle IV The Quest To Save Treguard [I am now drawing the winner who will have their real name in my story.......... I put my hand into the hat and have pulled out a blank white envelope. Motley is still doing a drumroll.] I don't know which one I have chosen...... [ I am ripping open the sealed envelope and pull out the card. I notice a group of people are watching me do this. I announce loudly] and the winning title idea is................ Pickle IV The Quest To Save Treguard. [motley finishes the drumroll] I can see a Star Wars joke going in here. lol. Maybe something like...... Lord Fear I am your father....... What! NO! You can't be! I'd tell you the full bit but I am laughing at it too much. It might be a bit of a spoiler and revel who Knightmare's dad is and why KNIGHTMARE the skull creature is found in Knightmare castle. Well done to The_Mart you have just won a great honour. Your real name is going into my story and you will be helping Pickle on his quest. Pickle will meet you just before level three. Robin your title ideas were really good..... I'll use one of them in something else.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Skit: The Ex-Terminator Original Release Date: 7th September 2016 Throwback Review Date: 18th September 2016 Score: 3 out of 5 (good) Inspiration: A throwaway comment from Pickle in the main series about whether Snapper-Jack had been whisked away from the realm of Knightmare along with the Mire World got me thinking about how much Maldame would hate this situation, and what she would do to sort it out. While wondering to myself “what kind of exterminator could I play?” the answer presented itself in the question. Comments: It's short and sweet, fairly amusing and achieves everything it sets out to achieve, and the paradox is truly insoluble, so I am pleased with it.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Skit: Luckless in Latakia Original Release Date: 2nd January 2016 Throwback Review Date: 17th September 2016 Score: 3 out of 5 (good) Inspiration: With Motley and Sidriss (like Folly and Gretel before them) settled in foreign climes, it was inevitable that we (like Hordriss) would be paying them a New Year visit. This skit demonstrates an eclectic mix of inspiration, from I Dream of Jeannie to Knightmare Live, via Blackadder and One Foot in the Grave, and our naughty cat makes her presence felt through Betsemane, just as she did through Kimberlite in the main series. Comments: It's another fun ride through the strange and surreal. The illusion of Motley shaking off his crowd of drunken followers is achieved particularly well in my opinion.

Skit: Die Hochzeit Original Release Date: 2nd January 2015 Throwback Review Date: 16th September 2016 Score: 4 out of 5 (very good) Inspiration: Having established in the previous skit that Folly and Gretel's wedding was one year away from actually taking place, here we are at the reception one year later. (When translated into English, the title of this skit becomes 'The Wedding', of course.) We discover that Merlin's wish from the main series (that he and Treguard would be invited to the wedding) has come true, and that they are not the only ones who have made the effort to come over to Hamburg for the Big Day. Comments: It's pleasingly quirky and amusing all the way through, but the undisputed highlight is the hilarious performance of Andy Marshall as a drunken, embittered Tim Child.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Skit: Breakfast at Hansel's Original Release Date: 1st January 2014 Throwback Review Date: 15th September 2016 Score: 3 out of 5 (good) Inspiration: Having decided that I had somewhat prematurely washed my hands of playing Hansel a couple of years previously, and having heard Treguard and Merlin speculating in the main series about what Folly and Gretel were up to in Germany, I could not help but write this skit. Thinking about Hamburg I thought of the Beatles, so they made it in, as did references to Hansel's somewhat violent tendencies from the main series. Marriage and property particulars go hand-in-hand of course; I borrowed the estate agents' jargon jokes from a BBC Radio 4 panel game. Comments: It's rather fun to catch up with these three long neglected characters. I find the skit gently amusing and I like it.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Skit: The Floor in the Plan Original Release Date: 1st September 2012 Throwback Review Date: 14th September 2016 Score: 4 out of 5 (very good) Inspiration: Anyone who's ever wasted a day waiting in for an unreliable tradesman should find plenty that rings true here. It is easy to imagine that Treguard would not want to pass up the opportunity to watch Pete Sampras and Goran Ivanisevic fight their way through to the Wimbledon final on the off-chance that the builder might actually turn up, much as he later comes to regret the decision. (Just to set the record straight, the real life Russell Jackson, who fitted a new bathroom for us in the same month that this skit was released, was far more reliable than his fictional counterpart.) The massive changes to the antechamber in Knightmare's eighth series do not deserve to evade comment on how strange, extreme and inexplicable they are, and this skit finally sets that right. Yes, it was indeed one heck of a floor repair, and (as is made obvious here) it did not go according to plan! Comments: It's interesting to note that, chronologically speaking, this is by far the earliest sequence of events that we have ever presented, as it takes place at least sixteen years before anything else that's been released under the Knightmare Audio Series banner. This skit is always a joy to listen to because it is, quite simply, extremely funny. It's unfortunate that it dates from the time before the hissing from the microphones got tidied up in preproduction as a matter of course, and Treguard's voice still had that nasty deepening effect on it, but that doesn't take anything away from the overall high quality of the skit.

Hi, Not sure whether I should post this here (apols moderators if I'm in the wrong place! ) but while messing around with some new software I stumbled across one of the fan created videos of the life force sequence from series 1-4 and managed (although if I'm being honest I'm not entirely sure how) to create a live wallpaper from the clip which can be used on android phones, If there is any interest in this, I will make it available for download and before you all jump down my throat, I claim absolutely no credit for the original clip (nor would I ever have the brass neck to), all I am taking credit for is for creating the wallpaper with it, If I'm out of order I apologise but thought some of you may like it and anything that promotes the show, site or forum can only be a good thing...can't it? Take care

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 16 Original Release Date: 20th February 2016 Throwback Review Date: 22nd April 2016 Score: 4 out of 5 (very good) The Good: All three teams reach the right level of comedic incompetence to match their early deaths, and the voice performances have been appropriately geared to help create this effect. Canny listeners might well realise that all three deaths were envisioned at one point to coincide with the end of the series, but this creates rather a fun and farcical feel to the episode that I enjoy quite a lot. The fatal mistake of Ollie's team with the blocker is well conceived and superbly put together. The events of Amber's Level 1 are original and fun. Andy's mini-quest is a right laugh. The three causes of death are varied and interesting; it's particularly good to hear Lillith finally get to kill someone on her last appearance. The Bad: It's a shame that some of Matthew Narroway's lines didn't record very clearly. The Jaws music in the pool scene could have done with being cut down a bit and looped so it just included the really famous, tension-building part. Conclusion: A somewhat farcical episode with a glut of amusing team members that ends the series on a fun note.

To be honest mate I am not familiar about goblins, apart from the ones on Knightmare of course. The other guys might be able to shed more light. If not I can give you my ex-girlfriends phone number and she might be able to help But yeah, a nice bit of creativity goes a long way here. We've always been fancy to fan stuff. I did a college project many moons ago based on Knightmare I even contacted the producer, Tim Child himself, to use the actual Helmet of Justice used on the show. It wasn't very good when I look back, but I had a lot of fun doing it Anythings worth a go eh??

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 15 Original Release Date: 19th December 2015 Throwback Review Date: 21st April 2016 Score: 4 out of 5 (very good) The Good: Kimbo and the gang continue to sound excellent and they richly deserve their win. Ollie's team sounds pretty good; I particularly like Fionn Noonan as Elliot. Their tendency to panic comes across at a believable and appropriate pace, foreshadowing what happens in the next episode. Not for the first time, Amy Davies as Elita is a highlight. The Bad: Ollie's voice could have been pitched a little higher, to match the rest of his team. Conclusion: A very solid and very enjoyable episode.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 14 Original Release Date: 17th October 2015 Throwback Review Date: 20th April 2016 Score: 5 out of 5 (brilliant) The Good: The episode fits together well and trundles along nicely. The team continues to sound excellent, especially Tom's smarmy comments and Kim's constant fear that one of the characters is about to kill her. I'm glad Sidriss and Motley got their happy ending, at least for now; it's very neat the way Hordriss is worked into the conclusion of the plot as well, whilst doing his card puzzle. The (Not Really) Bad: I suppose Kim's Level 2 could have done with one more room really, just for a little additional challenge, but we weren't sure how close this quest was going to take us to the end of the series when it was written, and having a short Level 2 is the right way to hedge one's bets about these things! Conclusion: It's impossible for me not to award this episode full marks – it's technically perfect, the voice work is all spot-on, and the plot with Motley, Hordriss and Sidriss is tied up very nicely.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 13 Original Release Date: 15th August 2015 Throwback Review Date: 19th April 2016 Score: 4 out of 5 (very good) The Good: I used to shy away from doing scenes where a character is drunk as they almost always come across as extremely fake, but I actually like the Sylvester Hands scene quite a lot – it turned out as a decent take-off of the scene with Hands and Julie from the real show. The death scene in the Corridor of Blades is well conceived and successfully realised. Kim's team sounds very engaging. Amy Davies is on her usual excellent form in the dungeoneer role, while Andy Marshall gives an amusing dose of smarm to Tom. Catie Clark always interprets a script brilliantly, while Cassandra Smith comes out with lots of great deliveries. The concept of Motley becoming a fisherman thanks to Sidriss and Hordriss is a very nice spin on the situation with Ridolfo from the real show, and the team's reaction to this state of affairs is extremely well played. The Bad: The notion that Nemanor is on the ship and Stacey is evading him by becoming invisible and visible by turns does not really come across successfully in audio. The skull ghost turning up to stop the team choosing another object before calling Stiletta seems rather arbitrary to me. Snapper-Jack says the word “for” at least three times too many during his appearance – I find it rather distracting. Also, I always got the impression from the real show that he would never repeat a riddle. (He didn't really “repeat it one more time” either, as that would mean saying it three times in total, rather than two.) Conclusion: It's one of those episodes that I find hard to score, because there are some parts I'd like to take a hatchet to and some parts that could sit quite happily in an episode with full marks, as well as almost everything in between. It's come out as “very good” overall, because most of it is.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 12 Original Release Date: 20th June 2015 Throwback Review Date: 18th April 2016 Score: 3 out of 5 (good) The Good: Stacey's team has a good group dynamic; Zoe Okere in particular sounds very natural and engaging. Elita's inability to insult anyone was an idea that went through several stages of development, and here Amy Davies employs her quite excellent vocal skills to bring the final concept to life so engagingly and amusingly. The Bad: There are a couple of things that slipped through the net in this one. Stiletta's number four actually has a green blade rather than a green handle. The not-quite-scanning riddles irk me slightly. I bet the toast Elita gave to Stacey was horribly cold and soggy. Saying that Festus is being shown on-screen to the advisors is a step too far for me. Obviously none of the Audio Series is real in any way, but this scene is trying to create the fantasy world in which Knightmare takes place with the team members as an integral part of that world, rather than trying to evoke the lovely fantasy/reality mix with the team members based on the reality side. The same is true of Stacey's assertion that she can't see herself when she's supposedly become invisible. Conclusion: This episode has several iffy bits in my opinion, but it also has more than enough saving graces to keep it in the “good” category.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 11 Original Release Date: 18th April 2015 Throwback Review Date: 16th April 2016 Score: 4 out of 5 (very good) The Good: Nick's team continues to sound extremely engaging. Antony Jeffries (Nick) in particular reads every line brilliantly; I find his performance on the Spindizzy especially convincing. Although we don't get to hear much of them here, having four completely new voices for Stacey's team certainly adds a lot of vocal variety to the series. The (Not Really) Bad: It's true that Nick's quest is unusually hard, but as Pickle is quick to remind us, some unfortunate Knightmare teams did suffer from others' successes, i.e. those following closely behind winners were never going to get done any favours. Conclusion: It's a solid episode that trundles along very nicely with lots of engaging voice work.

Episode: Series 2, Episode 10 Original Release Date: 21st February 2015 Throwback Review Date: 12th April 2016 Score: 5 out of 5 (brilliant) The Good: I love the sound and group dynamic of Ben's team – it's got to be one of my top five teams of all. I really like the battle of elf-determination – it comes off very well and fulfils its promise. The death scene with the Giant is excellent, particularly Euan's delivery of “tell him you're disgusting” – pure genius! Those are my highlights, but the entire quest sounds superb. I absolutely love Antony Jeffries as Nick – the voice is wonderful and the interpretation of the lines is extraordinarily good. The rest of the team sounds very nice as well – appropriately young and spunky, with bags of pluck. The (Not Really) Bad: Clearly Ben and friends stopped watching Merlin on BBC1 at about the same time I did so they missed Tristran and Isolde, but of course not everything the contestants say in the Audio Series is designed to be well informed and accurate, otherwise everyone would win! Conclusion: Ben's team sounds excellent and the quest is very well realised, then Nick's team makes an appealing start. The episode is practically flawless.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 9 Original Release Date: 20th December 2014 Throwback Review Date: 11th April 2016 Score: 5 out of 5 (brilliant) The Good: I stand by the five-paragraph essay I wrote in response to this episode when it first came out – I really do think it's something special. The Level 3 tension is evoked extremely well, the dark room scene is realised very effectively, the Corridor of Blades makes its triumphant debut, and the final scene with Maldame is my favourite conclusion to a winning quest so far. Mike Tyson, Euan Russell and Ricky Temple all bring something unique to Ben's team. The first few minutes of this quest are extremely pleasing to the ear, and the intriguing situation with Velda sets up the events of the next episode rather well. The Bad: We could have done with a “magic cannot help you this time” type of comment to explain why the team never considered casting the STEALTH spell to get past the miremen. Perhaps a sound effect for Hordriss's energising magic would have been a good idea. Conclusion: Two brilliant-sounding teams, plenty of great Level 3 action, and a nice teaser for next time. This is another contender for my favourite episode of all.

Episode: Series 2, Episode 8 Original Release Date: 18th October 2014 Throwback Review Date: 9th April 2016 Score: 5 out of 5 (brilliant) The Good: The team sounds great, the characters sound great and the effects sound great – what's not to love? I particularly like the Elita scene and the seven league boots sequence, but there's nothing in this episode that I think misfires, or isn't worth having in there. The Bad: I'm now wondering if it would have been better to use the OPEN spell to reach the ship itself, rather than to open an extra door on board. Also, this episode has more interruptions than it really needs, and it does perhaps come across as rather smutty, mainly because Rosey and I were writing separate bits at separate times and both feeling independently naughty at those times. Conclusion: Despite those few niggles, this is definitely top-drawer material in my opinion.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 7 Original Release Date: 16th August 2014 Throwback Review Date: 8th April 2016 Score: 3 out of 5 (good) The Good: Mikey's team sounds really great – almost as good as Izzy's. Andy Marshall is always highly entertaining, Cassandra Smith gives us some wonderful deliveries, and the natural register of debutante Roz Pearson is absolutely perfect for a Knightmare team member. I like the chessboard simple starter – there's a good exchange between Treguard and Pickle and it introduces the team members well. Kimberlite's dialogue comes straight from the mouth of our vicious cat – she really does like to do all that horrible stuff to small animals! The Bad: I don't tremendously enjoy listening to Chelsee's quest, I must confess. The team doesn't really gel and some of the dialogue seems rather stuck in the first series to me, by which I mean it's what I call over-explainy or premise-estbalishy. (Listen to the scorpion scene, the catacombite scene, the Lillith scene and the dismissal scene for examples.) We don't get into the really entertaining bits of Mikey's quest in this episode. Again, the fuse on the bomb lights too soon, and I should have made Shannon say that the room was twenty metres long rather than ten, if Mikey really didn't have time to get out without freezing the fuse. Conclusion: It's okay but it's a bit of a trough in the second series.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 6 Original Release Date: 21st June 2014 Throwback Review Date: 7th April 2016 Score: 4 out of 5 (very good) The Good: I love Izzy's team and I really wish now that we'd had them win, but that's not really a bad thing because it evokes a genuine feeling of having experienced a real episode of Knightmare – the teams that I like most and consider the best are practically never the teams that actually win, and I know that I'm not alone in feeling this way. Dave's quest was written as a complete farce, and I think it's a total success in this respect. It's hilarious from start to finish, thanks in no small part to Roy Jackson as the utterly clueless Dave and Amy Davies as the relatively lucid Keeley. I'm rather pleased with my evil laugh at the very end of the quest. The Bad: The hobgoblin isn't supposed to start moving until after Treguard has said “one piece” and I don't think the sound effects really make that clear – you have to rely on Sam's dialogue. I think it's a good idea to expand on the world of King Arawn and his elves from the Knightmare book continuity, but I'm no longer entirely sure that the Audio Series is the best place to do it. Conclusion: It's a highly entertaining episode with two great-sounding teams (in two very different ways) and plenty of farcical hilarity.

We've had a lot of fun making the series over the past 6 years, but what do I really think of it? Find out now in Jake's Throwback Reviews! Episode: Series 2, Episode 5 Original Release Date: 19th April 2014 Throwback Review Date: 6th April 2016 Score: 5 out of 5 (brilliant) The Good: There's really nothing in this episode that I don't like, or even that I feel a little niggle about. I particularly like the two spyglass sequences, which I actually wrote before the rest of the quest had even been planned out, and the Rothberry scene, which I think is pulled off very well. I think the two scroll clues are quite clever and well thought out. The reintroductions of Ariadne and Snapper-Jack after almost two years away from the series should hopefully come to some as a welcome surprise. The (Not Really) Bad: It's true that this episode does have rather a lot of risqué dialogue and dirty laughter, but I feel this is artistically justified because of Izzy's (at the very least) flirty relationship with all three of her advisors. (You may notice that Izzy knows perfectly well what a sextant is really, but she'd rather pretend she doesn't and laugh about its name.) Conclusion: Like the previous episode, this is practically perfect in every way. Perhaps it's my favourite episode ever, as it has no niggles.
