    IF this is still going ahead on the proposed dates then I'm definitely out on this occasion now sorry. Flight and accomodation has been booked. If people want to use Présov, Slovakia on evenings of 24th and 25th of January I'm game. The wedding party have already politely declined doing it on their wedding night (quiet at the back!) of the 26th.

    Okay, after receiving numerous replies regarding new possible dates, the event has moved to 12-14. Please indicate on either the Facebook page or the new thread if you can make it. Gentle bollocking follows... We go to considerable lengths to try and pick dates that the maximum number of people can make. Hence why we consulted with everyone over a period of weeks, proposed a date, waited for a while for any objections, reminded people to object if they had any objections, and since nobody objected to the proposed date or even asked us to wait while they confirmed their availability, we went with the proposed date. It is therefore disappointing that within a day of doing this, people contacted us to say that the proposed date will not work for them. This information could have been given to us sooner. Although we are happy that the new date works for more people (everyone that could make the old date can still make the new date), some people have lost holiday as a result of this date change. Please don't let this happen again. If you want your availability considered, let us know when we ask. If you take issue with this, feel free to contact me.

    It's a no from me sorry, have a prior engagement on the Saturday night and couldn't justify that cost of getting there and staying for just one night. Looking at over £70 just for the train!

    Facebook etc? There's lots of very enthusiastic people on there, but probably a very small percentage that would actually do anything as usual. Sounds about right In practice, only a proportion of the people who say they'll come will actually show up, too. It may be better to get a couple of options for dates/places before unleashing it on the thousands, give them something specific to talk about. As I said at the beginning, it needs someone to come forward and take responsibility for all of the organisation, including handling money/paying deposits/providing transportation etc.

    Would've loved to have come if I could but recovering from surgery last month so unable to walk far or sit down for long periods. Hope you have a good day/weekend at the concert Had we knew you were a fan, we would have asked you to come along in the first place! I hope the recovery is going well

    I'd have thought that a logical place for another convention would be Carlisle, so it's close to where Dunshelm was supposedly built. Maybe taking the books a bit too much to heart there.

    Had a search to find my old, ridiculous idea of a Knightmare Convention I wrote here in January 2006 and I note that it's been merged with various other similar threads over the years, as all seen above - looks like I wasn't quite the first but predicting something eight years too early is still pretty cool I think. Interesting read today

    Is this still on the cards then? At one point it was 'January or never' so I was getting worried it had fallen through... It's made very very little progress.
