G'day all, A happy new year to everyone! Being stuck by my lonely self here. I've done what anyone else would do when confronted with nothing to do over a holiday period. I've done some stats. Part of this was a curiosity as to whether we had actually been moving onwards and upwards with the site, having converted and upgraded it earlier in the year. The only real judge I have for this is the post count. So I've extracted the various numbers from the database and come to some conclusions: Since the site upgrade, post count each month has approximately doubled. It is still far below the glory days of 2003/2004 (more on that in a bit). But it seems to be on the way up. This year's average post count has been the highest (just) since 2006 at just over 103 posts per month. For those of you interested in the historical aspects. 2006 had an average of 164 posts per month, and 2003 had an impressive 1169 posts per month. Within the next year, I'm hoping to complete the site upgrade that took place last year. We're looking forward to upgrading the content management system so that people will be able to submit articles, news and links directly for the main site (subject to moderation of course). All in all, it's our hope that we'll be able to allow everyone to contribute to and take part in adding to the main site. The forum is also due to get a makeover, and it's our intention that this update will happen at almost the same time. To complete the upgrade, we'll also be tying the main site and forum together (or at least a little more closely than they are at this time). There are one or two other things that we've also been looking into. If those ideas manifest, we'll be sure to let you know Hope you all have an excellent year.

12 looks like a tough proposition May I suggest the following? 12 episodes of the Knightmare-friendly Born In The 70s show; 11 minutes, excluding credits, of a new KM spoof video; 10 'Artists' and Contestants (including 'Spare') in the Knightmare pilot script; 9 KM fans in the Knightmare Audio Series; 8 KM fans in the Aegis Quest pilot; 7 KM series and books represented by the artwork in David Rowe's web galleries; 6 KM actors spotted in The Bill, via YouTube; 5 Tribes Going To War; 4 portals in the first Dungeon chamber of Dizzy's Knightmare quest; 3 guests drinking beer, eating pizza and watching Knightmare with Richard Bacon; 2 newly-uploaded episodes of Le Chevalier Du Labyrinthe; And The 1 And Only Lord Fear - seen anew in the recovered KMVR pilot and his first fanvid. For me, that more or less covers the 12 months of what has been an unexpectedly rich year for Knightmare fandom.

Hello, The knightmare.com server has changed to a much newer and faster one. Please be on the lookout for any sudden breakages in the site or forum.

Thanks, DJF! I hope I'm ok to speak on this - I've been silently chugging away for a little while on content without detailing anything here. Absolutely, the video content hosted here can be replaced now that technology has moved on a long way. There's a list that is being worked through, and updating the stack of images (the display) has been a high priority. Some image work has had to be redone, alas. But it is coming along, with what is available, and I'm sure video content will follow in due course. Thanks for all the encouragement!

It's a bit more than copy and paste stuff. I think we have enough volunteers now though, thanks.

If anything abnormal is going on, please contact us! It seems the 'View active topics' facility won't acknowledge anything more recent than last Friday (20th). Could this be a side-effect of your forum software change?

No problems to report here. Okay, I've only just got round to posting my first message on the new design forum! Good work.

Eagle eye forum members will notice a few little things: I have added a handful of Knightmare-specific avatars to the forum. Many of these were contributed by Dan the Spellcaster (thanks!). Many I grabbed from my own photo collections on those from the website. I'm hoping we can expand this collection so we can have a large collection of avatars available to new users. You may notice the introduction of a new "Contributors" group. I hope for this group to be self-governing in the future. However, for now it is reserved for people who make significant contributions to the forum (such as avatars, etc.) I hope to find a way for the different groups (moderators/contributors/etc) to NOT replace the post-count based stars system. This may take some time to figure out how though. As you were.

Thought I'd make a new post to clarify all the facts about Knightmare Chat. The thread that preceded this one has been archived, and can still be read here, but there is lots of information that is out of date on it. So here goes: WHEN CHAT HAPPENS Knightmare Chat happens on Sundays at 8:00pm (although "unofficial" chats happen on Fridays and Saturdays too, and the room is always open). WHERE CHAT IS The server address is irc.knightmare.org.uk at port 6667, and the room is #knightmare. If you use a program for IRC chat, those details should work. If you would like to use one, the best one around is mIRC. If you would like to access Knightmare Chat via a web browser, you can do that using one of the online chat clients. IKM's Clients Page has all the clients on it. STAFF Knightmare Chat has a few 'members of staff' (more commonly known as operators or OPs), to make sure things run smoothly. They will have a symbol next to their name, such as ~, & or @. OPs are not there to bully anyone, but are around 'just in case' anything happens that needs attention. The owner of the room is Pooka; Darren is co-owner. If you have an issue with anything in Knightmare Chat, then please contact either of them. The other OPs are Billy, Kieran, and Forester, who also owns IKM, and the server on which Knightmare Chat is hosted, named Mythology. RULES There are no fixed 'rules' concerning Knightmare Chat, although being civil, not offending other members and other things that are common sense should be a given. Although the chat room is named after Knightmare, conversation is in no way limited to Knightmare, so please do not get offended if we are not discussing your favourite character the moment you enter! For more information on Knightmare Chat, IKM has a general chat information page, which should answer any further questions you have. Come and talk to us, we'd like to see you there!

Howdy, I have made hopefully the last test import of data to phpbb. The encoding problem seems to have resolved itself and the knightmare forum theme should now be complete (I hope). Although there is obviously room for improvement at a later date. I propose to make the final move to phpbb on Friday 15th May. The hope is that the transition will go smoothly, there should be no loss of data. When the update begins, this forum will be locked, switched off and archived. The new forum will then be brought online and data from the old forum will be imported. The process will take several hours. If you haven't done so already, please update your user profile. Should things go wrong and your password requires resetting, it will be very hard to do anything if your email address is out of date.
