In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

I imagine if he mentioned them then it probably exists...more probably that he simply never had the time to encode them. Thankfully we have the pilot script to enjoy

From Series 6, Episode 1: MATT: (Picking up food) It's a croissant. Got to love him wiping his hand on Sylvester as well. I love the changing expressions on Pickle's face when Merlin asks him if he wants 'a hint' in the Christmas episode. The Dungeoneer saying "Down, boy!" to the descender.

Pickle. Without a doubt. Though I think I began watching Knightmare sometime in Series 4, and definitely remember quests and events from Series 5 and 6, I only remember Majida as the assistant. (Maybe it has something to do with little girls remembering women more - role models etc.) Anyway, having been to YouTube and found all the episodes I have discovered the loveliness that is Pickle. Obviously I adore Knightmareanyway, but he's the main reason I keep rewatching bits of Series 4-6.

Although your project is presently vague, I would be very interested to supporting any kind of resurgence in the KM format. I grew up with that show and for me it was the greatest television programme ever, not just for children. I loved the fact that KM brought fantasy, real actors, improvisation, a competitive atmosphere and cutting edge graphics all into one show, and actually taught a lot to young kids (communication, team work, clarity of thought, observation, manners, respect). There were so many good things about that show, the same things that are missing from so many of our shows these days. I am currently in between jobs at the moment and so have plenty of time on my hands if there is anything I can help with. I'm a project manager from an engineering background. I would be willing to volunteer my time to do anything that might help.

Jamie Reed, he of the "got stuck in Ariadne's Lair unfairly" Series 2 fame, is now an MP - I'm pleased to confirm a Labour MP. He mentions Knightmare on his Twitter feed if you scroll back enough - @jreedmp. For those who haven't looked into this: after taking in quite a number of people, including a well known professional writer, Jamie Reed tweeted that he was never on Knightmare. He was just having a laugh, it seems. Looks like this may run and run, like Bob Holness and Baker Street... I'm already wondering if it's earned a place in the urban myths thread! Quite amused by the lesson it teaches, though - don't even joke about being on Knightmare! People so desperately want it to be true, it's not something you can easily take back.

Damn, if only we'd thought to ask Tom Karol whether he voiced the grey gargoyle as well, when James interviewed him! My money's on Paul Valentine for that one, though. I also suspect he voiced the bookworm in Series 7, but it's very hard to be certain.

No winners in series 3. Martin and Leo got ripped off with harsh questions. The weeping doors in Series 4.

It's interesting how in Series 6 and 7, all the even-numbered teams were all-female. In Series 5, all the odd-numbered teams were all-female with the exceptions of Team 7 and William on Team 3.

On the subject of goblins... The Goblin Horn Sounds and The Vile and Discusting Goblin Brothers Grippa & Rhark scurry into sight Clubs at the ready. Is it actually canon that Grippa and Rhark are siblings? I thought I remembered reading it somewhere official, but all I can find are Skarkill's forum posts and the TES entry on goblins. Where did this info come from?

I'm planning to put up an "accumulated wisdom" page on my website, compiling some of the wisest truths ever uttered in the series. Here's some quotes to be going on with... "When the going gets cold, the tough get frozen." "Life goes on... or not." "You smell like something the cat brought up!" "Any decision is better than indecision. Well, almost." "There's only one way to get out [of a monster's stomach]. Well two actually, but we won't go into that!" "Can you try giving a straight answer for once?" "Maybe." Funnily enough I had the same idea a while back. I came up with these ones: "You can always trust something with its head missing." (Gundrada, Series 4) "You can't sign a peace treaty with a Pooka." (Treguard, Series 7) "If you invent something new, give it a really pretentious name - everyone goes overboard for it." (Lord Fear, Series

What do you mean 'no time'? They had pleny of time, right? They just couldn't remember the answer.
