In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

Greetings... The simplest way to freak people out (however old they are) is to sneak up on them - and until I discovered this site, my memories of Knightmare were mainly of its "stalkers". (How odd that the Automatum was only in one series: he, along with the skulls and later stormgeists, summed up the whole show for me). I guess the scariest ones must be Series 3's Ogre (a stalker who actually shouts!) and Hobgoblin ('cause he was so huge). Having said that, I clearly remember marvelling at the sheer grossness of the Miremen, and jumping out of my skin when the Behemoth appeared. (For some reason, in the intervening years, I thought his/its name was Cleave! Right vowel sound, wrong weapon?).

Forester ran a Knightmare MUD for a while (back sometime around the development of KMRPG6 or thereabouts), but everyone who participated quickly lost interest. That's probably why there isn't one...

I wonder if I'm alone in thinking that this thread may be getting a little out of hand. Its revival may have given us one of history's few reassuring spelling mistakes, but that aside, I'm not sure it's worth feeding, in seriousness or in jest, when there are so many more deserving topics around. I think I've come to the same conclusion. Should such a thread be started again in the future, I would expect people to respond with respect, even if the original poster presents a contentious viewpoint. If you think someone is trolling, alert a moderator. Thread locked.

A good episode is made up of dramatic storylines, and not comprised of a team whose Dungeon person (to quote Sly Hands) dies after the advisors miss a blitheringly obvious clue. Also, IMO the best episodes wee from season 4 onwards, the comedy interaction between Lord Fear and his "Minions", to be honest I found Mogdred boring.

Just a thought what about the Knightmare The Movie, where Lord Fear plams to enter the real world, disguising himself as David Cameron and attempts to take over the world ( destroying and getting revenge on former dungeoners and advisors as well). Treguard comes out of retirement to warn the 8 former winning teams now ...adults that they each must attempt the dungeon again and stop Lord Fears devious plan! Sounds a good blockbuster? Will it be a suscess or will it go the same way as Bottom The Movie?

Reminds me of a nice girl from Ruislip I met in Crawley town centre recently filling in some RSPCA form. We got chatting about Knightmare as she loved the show as well. It was just a day after I saw Chris on Series 6 via youtube! If only I told her about this forum. Lol

I pretty much agree with all that, B. I didn't include the, for want of a better word, presenters in the list, as I was looking at the guys who played more than one part. But, all three were excellent, especially Hugo. Let's face it, not many people could get the fluffy little Cavernwights over as highly dangerous, bloodsucking demons, but thanks to Mr Myatt's reactions, they are still frightening today. Mark Knight was, and most probably still is, a highly versatile actor, who brought to life some fantastic characters, most famously Lord Fear. Although, I think the reason there was a greater understanding of his Fearship over Mogdred is that Lord Fear was firmly introduced as THE main bad guy, and the quests revolved around defeating him and his forces. Whereas in the earlier series' defeating the dungeon was the main goal, and Mogdred was just a very dangerous character who would pop up from time to time. I agree with your sentiments about John Woodnutt, he had a brilliant presence and gravitas about him.

On every single board or sub-board that a member (new or old) visits on this forum, the topic 'LOOKING FOR DVDs OR TAPES?' is at the top of the stack. Even though you already own copies of Knightmare, it still applies, and makes clear the forum's line on eBay & Knightmare DVDs. No one can fault you for wanting to watch Knightmare; but you will lend your support to the campaign for legal Knightmare DVDs, won't you? http://www.knightmare.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2535 Finally, as you are new, welcome to the forum. You've already sparked discussion with only your second post, so I hope you will stick around and make some more.

Hrmph. That wasn't decisive at all. Teams shall be chosen on a "per season" basis. They may be formed at any team (including mid season). There is no REQUIREMENT that you participate every week, but obviously it would be to your team's advantage. I shall review this after the first run.

I really liked the Dwarf Tunnels! I thought they added great suspense to Knightmare, especially when you heard, or occasionally saw who or indeed what was stalking the Dungeoneer. I also liked seeing the Skeletons slumped against the wall, they added a nice creepy touch! I think they were a great addition to Knightmare

I remember it on Teletext as well! It is a shame about Teletext, I used to spend hours on it, and Ceefax! Teletext was the best though, I loved it! I also had a go on the Knightmare game there. It was quite good! As for the Bring Back campaign, why not try posting via Digital Teletext?
