In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

Perhaps once you master the dungeon, you become immune to it and things such as the medusa? This would explain why Treguard doesn't need to look away. (Although certain inhabitants who are powerful enough may still be able to cast spells of certain strength on him).

I get the feeling he was freelance, as Treguard seems to get pretty annoyed with him at times and if Motley was under his jurisdiction he could easily have sacked him or banished him. Treguard simply reprimands him on occasion.

I think it was Merlin's intention to appear bumbling and comical, so any potential enemies would be lured into a false sense of security. There was no mistaking his power though and he was a very useful and important ally to have. I was sad when Merlin left - John woodnutt brought so much to the character in addition to that of Mogdred. But Hordriss was a more than worthy replacement. I liked the air of mystery around him initially - was he on the dungeoneer's side or not?

I love Granitas for his line "My name is NOT amusing!" but my favourite wall monster is Igneous. He was SO bad tempered and he came across as being quite fierce too. Had a team failed to answer any riddles correctly, I have no trouble in believing he would have killed them off in a gruesome manner.

Hello - first post back in a while! Interesting theory, but I wouldn't say that this was the case. Rupert would indeed be older, and of higher rank having gone from being a Sergent to a Templar. I think the writing in the scenes between Treguard and D'Armitage in The Sorcer's Isle is fantastic. But watching the series, and reading the books I can find no link between D'Armitage and Lord Fear. Though I've always found it a shame that D'Armitage was never made a character in the series. It could be like Heat almost, the two great enimies tracking eachother then finally meeting as the series draws to a close.

Well it's possible, but take it from someone who used to live in Glasgow, it's a lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ong walk from the Highlands...

It's hard to imagine either incidental music not being used on any modern non-live production, or incidental music being used on any live non-scripted production. [...He says, glances to his videogame shelves, and then reconsiders] ...Actually, scratch that, although you'd probably want to go for hiring a videogame composer who's used to dealing with a need for composed music to be interactive, and probably need someone to tell the music 'what to do' manually since the conditions would be far subtler for Knightmare than in an actual videogame.

I like the random one we got in the second room of episode 1 season 6 bit of a strange one but could have been very effective. It would have been nice to have had different portal sounds for ech level showing eeriness for level 3 I agree that would have been a really good touch. I also liked the one-off portal sound used at the very start of Season 6 quest 1, wonder why it was only used that one time.

From memories of the series on the original run - Probably a tie between the pendulum room which was used a grand total of once, the Fright Night teleporter puzzle from I forget the season, and the Corridor of Blades from many seasons. From rewatching the series? Almost undoubtedly the block and Tackle.

I choose Gundrada - big threat to goblins and other nasties with that massive broadsword! Melly is sweet, and I like her, but if you want to feel more protected then Gundrada's your gal

I reckon its difficult to dedcide bwhich season had a hight standard of teams as each season was of a difference in difficulty. Season 4 gave some good teams, but the difficulty was of course a lot less than in s 3. I reckon season 6 had some good ones as they all made it far into level 2 before meeting their demise.

Hi there, after reading Phil Colvin's article 'Perfect Knightmare', I was just wondering what your perfect dungeon and team would be? My perfect dungeon would be the Series 3 dungeon with the following additions to it: Level 1: Small timed causeway Level 2: Trial By Spikes and Block And Tackle Level 3: Play Your Cards Right, Corridor Of Blades and the Great Causeway I would also have the main opposition as a Lord Fear/Morghanna double team. As for perfect team, my choice for advisors would be Robin, Andrew and Brett (last team in Series 4), with Barry as dungeoneer.

Well seeing as the questions have been answered, I thought I' d put my two cents in anyways. But you can see that the cup was chosen. Also, I think the Lexicon is a great thing, and I use it a fair bit. However, there is just something about talking over the subject with of Knightfans on the forums. I know I've been away for ages, but even so, I do love the KM forum. If I ever got the chance, I think I would have chosen the Sword or the Crown...

Yeah that was an amazing moment! - although i must say that my personal favourite bit is when he picks up the talisman, it starts to drain his life force and his team go mental shouting at him to drop it - which he casually does and then shakes his hands off - absolutley hilarious and incredible comic timing for one so young
