    In the early series, there seems to have been a definitive, specific, laid out path. An item was used in a particular location and if you didn't have the item (for whatever reason) when it was needed then you died. The problem is that this lead to the situation where you can do badly in the clue room and still get through the dungeon by being lucky with your selection of items. On the other hand, if you did well, picked up exactly the right items, but missed a clue (or didn't understand the advice given) you were certainly dead. So bad teams could progress and good teams could fail, and it wasn't necessarily clear why. Later series seem to have eased up on this and there always seems to have been an alternative approach available for taking the wrong items (at least in level 1).

    Could someone please help? I'd really like to see the extended version. You can now watch the original upload of the extended Geek Week episode here. There's also a later upload here. Let us know what you think of it. Something I've only just noticed: the first thing to happen in the episode is a facing-away-from-the-camera sidestep (by Veruca). Surely deliberate? Thank you! Great to see the extra stuff! Also nice to hear the opening theme tune fade out naturally without the door-creaking-open sound effect at the end.

    Hugo has been known to make a few cameo appearances at Knightmare Live performances - both he and Mark Knight featured at the Leicester Square Theatre performance in November last year.

    I wonder if the Lords Of The Game pilot will forever remain a convention exclusive or if there might still be any future opportunity to see it. (And the pilot eps of Knightmare, for that matter. Would be cool if Tim could dig them out for the 40th anniversary next year!) I fear it’s unlikely. The pilot was filmed as “not for broadcast” so I imagine that legally it cannot be distributed. We did ask if we could include it on the DVD but although he gave it serious consideration, Tim said nay. I fear the pilots may have the same status

    My favourite is definitely his series 3-6 costume. I don't like his red cloak in series 7 and 8, but it's better in series 7 because he only wears it for about five seconds before hanging it on his chair.

    You darn tootin' those Floppy Pooka's looked too cute. Why, back in the day of the Shiny Cranium group meetings, we'd be all practicing our meanest leers and moans...made QUITE the racket too. Last I heard, the Pooka's all floated around reading Arts and Craft magazines. HOPELESS bunch of wusses I've ever had the indignation of floating near...Dear god.

    Welcome, Chris, and congratulations on being the first New Year newcomer to post in 2007. (Or, to put it another, more punning way, it's good tavern new member posting. ) To my knowledge, the only Knightmare actor to have posted on this incarnation of the forum is creator Tim Child (username: beveryafraid), who voice-acted in Knightmare VR and, quite possibly, had the odd cameo in Knightmare itself. (The Blockers? Just a theory of mine.) A friend of Alec Westwood once posted, as did a friend of Juliet Henry-Massy; Mark Knight has an account here (username: markbknight) but has never posted with it. Every now and then there is discussion here of a possible fan convention. If you search the forum for the word convention, making sure to extend the 'Max Age since last post' to cover the past few years, you'll find the various threads. I have had contact with some of Knightmare cast, as have other members of the fan community, though whether those actors/actresses would be able and willing to attend a KM convention is uncertain.

    The Medusa of Series 2 Team 3's fate. Christopher enters room looking directly at the Medusa. Tregaurd gives his extreme warning to the team and states that they need the shield in order to get past. Cue the advisors thinking "Oh bugger", and before you know it, the Medusa room has evolved into a flash of different colours before turning the entire team into stone.... The next time the Medusa appeared, where Series 2 Team 10 successfully passed it using the shield, was equally gripping, since the advisors had to each take it in turn to guide Julian to the exit. Unfortunatley the Medusa's third and final appearance in Series 3 Team 4's quest was not quite as good, where Leo et al were just able to hold it off using a GRIP spell before easily getting to the exit - one of the low points of Series 3 perhaps.

And here's something else to bear in mind: since the initials of The Eye Shield are the same as those of the Times Educational Supplement, if you put 'writer and promoter for TES' on your CV, it could work in your favour...

    Next year, of course, will be the big 'un - 20 years since it began. As I've said before, it'd be really great to do something, anything to commemorate it. Even if it just involves saying "Ooh, nasty!" as many times as possible in normal speech or something... Will have to try that at work when Customers call in. Customer: "I'm interested in a Visual Basic Course.." Herbie: "Oh Dear, What a Pity, Never Mind!" Customer: "What did you say?" Perhaps I should try and make a Treguard Soundboard for the phonecalls

    Ah Knightmare Discussions! Was unique in the difficulty factor no doubt about it. Being killed for going through the wrong door just doesn't happen on Children's Shows anymore. Shame really as when a team actually reached Level 3 you would get exited as a team may actually succeed!

    I was low on time when I posted that. I would make it more like Knightmare by making it more like the books actually. Seeing as a team battled Vestan and his army, and a team quested for the Holy Grail. You could do anything really, resque someone, scuffle for an area or anything. I personally can imagine both teams searching for and racing to find a Grail or someother kind of artifact. To male it more Knightmarish, they would obviously face riddles, traps and monsters. In the case of the Oppostition, they would face 'good' puzzles.

    And, if you're a dungeoneer called Alex, you are certain to fall to your doom, though as an advisor called Alex, pretty much anything could happen to the team.

    Finally right thread (my thanks to Drassil)!! I agree with Jim. That guy could be someone who lost in Level 1 or so. (It's got a beard afterall) Trying to scare timid dungeoneers of. It could be an Elf as well, it's ears are pointed.

    Perhaps you could argue "is a dragon really a dragon if you cannot touch it"/some other weird philosphy. We know Smirky is real as he flew them places. Owen (I don't think) never made physical contact - maybe he was a ghost? Dragons apparently can be very arrogant and he was just trying to convince the dungeeoneers...I'll be quiet now. Was a silly idea. As for the Red One, I have no idea - it was Lord Fear, maybe he sewed a dragon from bit of goblin and old dungeoneers, then dyed it red...brought it to life with a little technosorcery...? Owen can't be a ghost, dungeoneers walked on his nose...

    weeeeeellllll.... We don't have an exact situation like that I would say that we do... Personally i think that Series 3 was the strictest series ...and the example I'm thinking of is in Series 3, oddly enough Consider Series 3, Team 9 - Scott and co. They mistime their leap off the spindizzy and go through the wrong door - the correct one is clearly marked with the symbol of their quest, and Treguard even says that they're now facing one of Merlin's additional puzzles. They survive, because it's not a terribly difficult puzzle, but they've already missed out on the first step. Even so they're not forcibly killed...

    I'll vote for Martin and his "gritty lads from York" - they were endlessly entertaining! Martin telling his advisors to speak up, Martin in slightly-dazed mode emerging from the mining cart in Level 3 (although I heard somewhere that they genuinely had tipped him out a bit suddenly and there was actual concern for him not being too bruised). Oh - also Martin making a pained sound and shaking his hands after picking up the draining talisman - brilliant!
